It should've been obvious. The stolen glances during meetings, how their timetables always lined up so that they could see each other. It shocked them both that nobody had found out. The entirety of 7D just assumed that they had met on the job and were close buddies. If only they knew.
It started as an on and off again kind of thing. They would meet up to talk about upcoming plans for the alpha class, and when everything for the class was planned, they'd meet up for plans about the next project. After that had been planned, they would see each other to celebrate another successful year.
Then they started going out to pubs and movies, as 'friends'.
Sometimes it still surprises them how long it took to realise their feelings for one another.
