Movie night with Rach was always Millie's favourite. A perfect chance to sit down, relax, and think of everything except football, to which her life constantly rotated around.
Every Friday, summer through winter, the two meet up at Millies House, pick something to watch, make some popcorn, and sit curled up on the sofa with blankets and pillows galore.
This Friday was no exception in about 15 minutes. Rachel would be knocking at Millie's door, holding some sort of present, whether it be pizza, wine, sweets, or even an entire duvet ready to sit down and relax for the weekend.
However, for some reason, Millie was on edge, checking everything was perfect before her best friend's arrival. Because, for some reason, Millie felt like this night was different from the others, even though it was nothing of the sort.

You see. It had come to Millie's attention that maybe Rachel wasn't like the "best friend" everyone else had. Even if she asked any of the other players on her team, they would say a best friend is someone you can always confide in and laugh around, someone whose presence generally lightens up their day.
But there was one problem with that. If Rachel was, as everyone thought, Millie's best friend, then how come she won't tell her everything?
Like how, over the space of their friendship, Millie had found something more than friendship in her feelings for her friend.
Like how when Rach puts on that one top, the white cotton shirt that she tucks into those shorts, Millie can't help but stop and stare gormlessly.
Like how, no matter what they were doing, whether it be playing football, paying the goddamn bills, or crying over the loss of some random celebrity, Millie has never even seen, Rachel just being there made everything so much better, even if she was just standing there with that perfect, toothy grin of hers.
No matter what Millie was to do, there was no denying the way her BESTfriend made her feel.
And so, she decided, what better way to deal with it than not to deal with it at all.

A knock of the door awoke Millie from her trance, head swivelling at the speed of light to where her best friend would be stood behind. Almost sprinting to the door, she tightens the bobble in her hair and reaches for the doorknob.
"Millllieeee!" Yelled Rachel, barely even seconds after it had left the lock. Her hands wrapped around Millie's neck, in the friendliest of friendly greetings.
Friendly.
"Rachellllll!" Millie yells back, ignoring any of those intrusive thoughts that laughed in the back of her head.
"Are you ready?" She asks, eyes opening wide and glinting in a mass amount of cheek.
"Why? What have you got planned?"
"You see. There's this new movie that's out, and I really wanted to watch it with you because it's got that guy in that you really like, you know, what'shisname from Lord or the rings. And apparently, it's this really cringey romance, which is my favourite, so basically, it's the perfect mix of what you like and what I like, so this one is going to be perfect!!" She says, not once pausing for a breath before smiling at Millie once more.
God, that smile.
"Yeah, that's perfect." She says, quickly copying that smile she loved so much.
"Oh, and I brought some wine because I had a difficult week, and I thought, why not. So.." she stops talking and looks dead on into her eyes.
"Are you even listening, Mils?"
"Yeah, yeah."
"What was I saying, then." Rachel says.
As a matter of fact, Millie had not been listening. She was too focused on the way Rachel had leant against the back of the door, arms folded so casually as she talked and inspected her nails, facial expressions fluidly changing as she mentioned something different.
"Uh-something about wine? I don't know, really, I wasn't listening."
Rachel laughs at her, pushing herself back up and grabbing her friends forearm, dragging her towards the living room that she'd so desperately prepared.
"Sit down, I'll be back, I'm just gonna go grab some glasses for this beauty." She says, gesturing to the bottle of red wine in her hand.
As she made it to the door to the kitchen, she pointed to the TV. "Set it up then, Mills. I've been waiting for this all week."
"Right, on it." She mutters back, flashing a quick smile towards her friend.

2 glasses and 45 minutes through the movie, and the pair had burst into countless fits of giggles for no apparent reason. "And then -" Rachel began before she was cut off by another wave of laughter, quickly followed by Millies head falling onto her shoulder.
The movie itself had been long forgotten, both girls just enjoying each others presence and the ability to relax after such a busy week.

5 glasses and 87 minutes through the movie, and both of them had become quite dosy, finally crashing after the burst of energy the alcohol had given them. There was a large collection of limbs in every bit of space on the sofa, legs, and arms sprawled out across one another. This position wasn't unusual for the pair. Having done this every week, they had realised that being comfy was much more reasonable than staying in ones own personal space. However, for Millie, this time seemed much different, having realised her own personal feelings towards the older, shorter, and definitely more oblivious woman she spent so much time with.

Still five glasses of wine, and god knows how many minutes into the movie, and a silence has set over the 2, as Millie sleeps, comforted by the warmth and comfort provided by the relaxed person behind her. Rach had her hands twisted around the hair that had slipped from the others' hair. She was muttering just random words outloud about anything that came to mind, thoughts and emotions taking the majority.
That was until her hand slipped, mouth stopped moving, body slumped and eyes shut as sleep overcame her body as well.

Much to Millie's dismay, if she had stayed up, just till when Rachel fell, she would have heard the last of the words spewing in an endless, calm, tranquil stream.
"You know, Mills. The nights I spend with you are always the best and the worst. Best because I always love spending time with you.. pause.. worst because they confuse me just that tiny bit more.. pause..
About whether or not you're just a friend anymore.."

Guess confessions would have to wait?

(Ahh! Okay. I wasn't planning on doing any shipping of 2 already existing players. But I got a request. And then I had an idea. And then suddenly.. this existed. Please leave any requests in the comments of this chapter and check out my other books! Love ya <3)
