Kabanata 24: Disastrous Wedding

“Oh hi Coleen, glad you are here already” tita greeted mama as she saw us approaching. Nakipagbeso rin siya kay Nathan at papa before she turned to me.

“Woah, is this the young version of Coleen?” tita uttered amazed but then, we both ended up laughing. “Kiddings aside, ang ganda mo Lize. I'm glad you are here” nakangiti ani nito na ikinangiti ko lang rin.

“Ganda niyo rin po tita” nakangiting bati ko sa kanya bago nakipagbeso.

Some guest called her kaya nagpaalam muna siya sa amin.

We also saw the Zambrano's and just like tita Amanda, they also approach us.

“Mom, what time mag-uumpisa ang kasal? It's already 8:30 bakit wala pa si Xander?” Nathan asked mama while we are sitting and mama smiled at him. Gladly he asked that, I was also wondering dahil kanina pa kami dito.

“As what I've heard it will start at nine. They still have 30 minutes anak baka maya-maya lang ay dadating na ang groom” mama uttered and he nodded.

As what I've notice sa mga weddings is nuunang dumating ang groom kaysa sa bride but this? It felt strange. Parang may mali.

“Hi tita!” Xavier greeted a bit rattled, “Oh hi Xav?” I guess mama noticed it, “Uhh can I borrow Nathan and Lize for a bit?” he asked and forced a smile.

Mama look at both me and Nathan confusingly and I just forced a smile, don't know what's happening too.

“O..kay, just bring them back before the wedding will start, hmm?” mama uttered and he nodded. He immediately grab Nathan and Ada grabbed me.

“What is happening?” I asked confusedly, “Kuya won't come ate” Ada uttered that made me shocked, “A-ano? Baka late lang wala pa namang oras ih” naguguluhang ani ko and they didn't answer me.

Nang makarating kami nagsisilbing garden ng church ay saka lang kami tumigil.

“He really pursue his plan huh?!” halata sa boses ni Nathan ang pinagsamang inip at galit. “Yeah, I've tried to stop him but Xander is Xander. If he wanted it he'll get it” iling-iling na tugon ni Xavier.

“I know that what kuya did is for the better” mahinang ani ni Ada as she sigh afterwards.

“Wait! What is happening? at anong plano?!” I interrupted. For goodness sake! I'm so clueless.

“Xander ran off which means that there's no wedding that will happen today” Xavier uttered and looked at me helplessly. “And why is that?” I asked totally confused.

“It's because...” He trailed off a bit hesitant. “It's because of you” diretsong sagot ni Nathan na napabaling sa akin sa kanya.

“A-ano?” I uttered, shocked. “P-paanong a-ako?” I asked really and totally confused. Para akong nasa isang maze.

“Manhid ka ba ate o manhid ka?” nakangiwing ani ni Ada sa akin na ikinangiwi ko rin. It doesn't make sense!

We already talk about this before we separated our ways.

“We know that he is courting you Lize” Nathan uttered na nagpagulat sa akin. Paano nila nalaman? “It's obvious kaya ate” sagot ni ada na para bang alam niya ang iniisip ko.

Napanguso na lamang ako at nakinig na lamang sa kanila.

“Alessandra knows about the courting thing so by any minute now, she'll blame you kaya ka namin inalis doon” Ani ni Nathan na nagpagulat sa akin. “P-paanong alam niya?” naguguluhang tanong ko.
