It's Gonna Be My Year

Chapter 1

"I swear to god, if Joe doesn't know his bass solo by practice today, I will literally decapitate him. Don't laugh, you know I'm being serious. We need to have this track down by the show tomorrow!" I sighed into the phone as Sam stuttered out some lame excuse as to why Joe didn't know his solo.
I covered up the speaker as I ordered a regular coke, and went and sat at the only remaining table in McDonalds.

"Look, dude. I'm not annoyed, I just don't understand why he doesn't know the song when the rest of us do! Even Ben, who is probably the laziest man on this goddamn earth, knows it by-" My sentence was cut of by someone tapping me on the shoulder. I glanced up, not taking much notice as the guy asked me if he could sit with me- as the rest of the place was full. I nodded and carried on my phone conversation.

"Okay, okay. Just call Joe and make sure he knows it, yeah?" I took a sip of my coke and glanced up at the man sat opposite me. I had to look twice before I realised who I had actually invited to sit with me.

"Holy crap." I said down the phone, "Look, I'm gonna have to call you later." I hung up the call and nervously gripped my drink with both hands.

The man looked up from his food and smiled at me.

"I... You... You're Alex Gaskarth?!" It was more of a question than a statement, as I wasn't sure if I was dreaming.

He laughed, "Last time I checked- yeah!" I smiled cautiously and giggled through gritted teeth. "I couldn't help but overhear your conversation just now," He carried on, "And, well I don't wanna be intrusive here but, could I ask what it was about? I mean, you were talking about music and solos and..." His voice trailed off.

Had this been anyone else, I probably would've told them to fuck off for being so nosy- but this was Alex fucking Gaskarth! This was the man from my favourite band. The four men whom I'd idolised for the past 6 years of my life. So I gave in.

"Um... Yeah. I-I'm in a band..."
