Youth, it is what breeds life and aspiration, it's what makes the planet turn. While many get to enjoy their youth, there are, however, those who do not get to truly live it out.
Auden was a young man who would drift through their life looking for true fulfillment, but at every corner would come hardships. It was a day like no other, Auden would wake up after hours of trying to get to sleep with much trouble. Afterwards, Auden would get ready for the day. Auden would shower, brush his teeth, and of course would down a half gallon of coffee, the essentials. From there on Auden would really start his day with work. Auden worked for a game development company, he worked from home.
Everyday Auden would work from 8am to 4pm, he loved his job. Unlike everyday, he had received an email from his employer. Though he was a hard worker, he had a bad pattern of falling behind on his work. If Auden hadn't finished his current load by the end of the week, he was going to be let go. Auden shuddered at the thought of having to return to work at the local grocery store, or worse, the corner store. Auden knew what he had to do, and that of course was overtime. Auden would think to himself that a little overtime couldn't hurt.
The time was now 6pm. Auden hadn't realized how late it had gotten until a look at his alarm clock had sent him in shock. There was no choice, he had to retire for the day and head to sleep. Auden would clock out after logging off for the day, not soon after, he had felt how much of a toll it really took on him.
It was dark when Auden arose, he figured that it must've been about 3am. Auden would look at the time, but he just couldn't believe it. The time Auden had seen on his clock was only 6pm, now that couldn't be correct, Auden thought. The scared individual rationalized it to himself and figured he must've just woken up instantly, though he felt pretty well rested. He had stood up but instantly noticed something wasn't quite right. Auden had felt lighter, he then noticed something quite horrifying in the mirror that he kept in his room.
When Auden glanced at the mirror he noticed that he wasn't standing upright. It had seemed as if his body was still laying in the bed, asleep, instead of standing in front of his mirror. Auden started screaming frantically, he could feel his grip on reality slipping. As Auden was panicking, he felt a cold hand on his shoulder. Slowly Auden would turn slowly to meet the one who had placed their hand on his shoulder. When Auden had noticed it was a tall, lanky figure, he immediately lost it.
Auden began screaming his head off like he had been paid to. The newly made ghost did such a good job of screaming, the pale figure began screaming in surprise itself. The pale figure began trying to calm down the terrorized spirit, they couldn't accept they were dead. Like any good reaper, they hatched a plan.
Out of nowhere, Death had begun laughing wildly, he had reached a hand in his pocket. Auden was horrified at the thoughts of what was about to happen. Death wouldn't stop his manic laughter and swiftly pulled something out of his pocket. For a moment, Auden had shut his eyes tight expecting for his soul to be 'reaped' as humans would put it, but slowly he'd open his eyes. The thing death had pulled out was…. a muffin?
Death had handed him the muffin, grinning ear to ear. telling Auden to be more careful next time. Auden would take a bite of the muffin to violently explode upwards in his bed. The traumatized individual would begin frantically feeling up his own body making sure he was alive. Auden would spring out of bed to the mirror, thankfully he could see himself moving this time around. The survivor was happy he didn't have a heart attack in his sleep from such a terrible nightmare. Auden breathed a sigh of relief before being thrown into a frenzy after noticing something. On the edge of his desk where he had kept his computer, was a muffin with a single bite taken out of it.
