chapter six : practicing?!

"l/n-san..."

"l/n?-"

"wake up!" isagi shook y/n to try and wake her up. he really didn't want to interrupt her slumber, though it was lunch time, and he also didn't want the girl to starve for the rest of the day.

"welcome back" isagi smiled in her direction.

y/n's eyes slowly fluttered open as rays of sun outlined her features.

isagi felt a pinch in his heart. she was way too beautiful to be real. the boy wondered how on earth she accepted his offer to fake a relationship. it was only benefiting him, right? or maybe there was a reason that isagi hadn't considered?

either way, he tried to convince himself she did it out of pity, to not overthink the situation as it was already confusing.

though, he still had one more question he really wanted the answer to. did y/n and shidou know each other? 'i mean, of course... but since when...? and what did he tell her the night he practically took her away from me?...'  isagi grew more and more frustrated as he thought about it.

"yeah, uh thats actually three, not one question" y/n chuckled before she plopped her head back on the desk.

"i-i was saying that out loud all along?!-..." isagi felt quite embarrassed, his inner thoughts were meant to stay in.

"me and shidou used to be friends as kids... until middle school" she dodged his question.

"what happened during middle school? ..." the boy rose a brow.

she sent him a sad smile and stared out the window. she wanted to vent to isagi, but she knew she'd broke down crying. what the girl hated more than ever, was to show her weak side to people.

she avoided eye contact as tears gathered in the corner of her eyes. the awkward silence got too much to bear and made her nervous. she started fidgeting with her fingers. then, sighed and tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear.

isagi got a glimpse of her arms as her sleeve fell down a little bit by raising her hand up.

he let out a small gasp as his lips tried to form a coherent sentence at the sight of the reddish burn marks that sat on the girl's arm.

she turned around to look at him, and quickly realized what he had been staring at. she let out a sharp breath and quickly covered her bare arm.

"he did that... shidou did that?" he was growing enraged, though his voice came out as soft and caring.

she shook her head no "he didn't, but he...- we were good friends in primary, very good friends, inseparable."

"we didn't see each other for almost two years when he graduated, but when we finally did, I realized he really wasn't the same person anymore. i guess he hung with the wrong crowd? I don't have a clue. he was just way more violent and full of himself."
