Do you ever read a book and, while the protagonist is in pure misery and completely broken, you feel the pain because you like the book so much? Like, in every book, there's an introduction, things are building up and then, the dreams and hopes of the protagonist break, their life feels like it has been beaten up by a baseball bat. They are so completely broken, they're down on their knees before it gets better. And when you stop reading at that point, the feeling STAYS, at least with me. It feels like I'm in this misery, so I have to keep reading until the happy end, so I can feel better. Is this normal? I have this with a lot of books, nearly with everyone of them. Meanwhile, when I'm writing my own stories and my characters are in misery, I feel good as fuck. Are all writers this weird or is it just me?
