Chapter 1: Commission

"Traveler, should we check in with Katheryne? We haven't taken any bigger commissions in a while." Aether's floating companion Paimon placed herself on his shoulder as she brought up the suggestion. He smiled.
"Sure, why not? Let's go." The young golden-haired traveler strode into the city of Mondstat, beelining for the reception of the Adventurer's Guild where Katheryne awaited them.
"Hey Katheryne."
"Ad Astra Abyssosque! Welcome to the Adventurer's Guild." The black-haired receptionist responded with the standard refrain and a smile. The outlander smiled back.
"You have any new commissions for us? I want something that might take a while, I've got nothing else to do." Katheryne looked through a pile of papers with commissions and quests written on them.
"I have just the thing for you, Traveler. A few adventurers have recently returned from an expedition, and now nobody wants to take it." This caught Aether's attention.
"Why? It's just an expedition, right? Go there, explore, come back?" The receptionist shook her head. "It was, until they came back with reports of a Cryo Hypostasis in Starglow Cavern- and what could possibly be a coffin under the ice. There's now a commission to investigate this, but so far the rumours have prevented anyone from taking it."

Paimon shot Aether a look.
"Don't do it, that's weird!"
"Why not? I'm curious."
"Because it's a coffin submerged in ice!"
"Yeah, but who said we had to open it?"
"Ok, so what about the Cryo Hypostasis?!"
"Those are easy! I just need to use Electro and Geo on it!"
"But- but-"
"Sure, Katheryne, we'll take it. If no one else is gonna do it i'll do it." Katheryne handed Aether the paper, both of them ignoring Paimon's protests.
"Ad Astra Abyssosque, Traveler. And stay safe. Dragonspine is a very dangerous place."

And with that, the Star Traveler and his floating companion set off for Dragonspine. For Starglow Cavern. For the mystery beneath the ice.

And for the discovery that would change his life forever.
