Everyone in the dining room went silent when Jessabelle and I entered. My skin began to crawl as 124 pairs of eyes scrutinized me like a bug under a stethoscope. I couldn't help but notice though, that a pair of red ones were missing. The kindly woman however, wasn't at all phased. She marched directly to her seat and sat me next to her. I greeted everyone but they just stared making me shrink into myself.

"Do you want bread or roti, darlin'?" Jessabelle asked me with a smile. Her eyes held mine sternly almost as if she was reminding me of her presence. I hesitantly pointed to the latter and she started filling up a plate for me with braised beef, mashed potatoes and and a creamy macaroni and cheese. She then fixed herself a plate and encouraged me to eat while we spoke quietly to each other.

"So what do think of Heart of Lilith?" she asked excitedly.

I smiled, "It's a lovely place. Not like the stories at all."

She chuckled and shoved a spoon of mashed potatoes in her mouth, "Yeah, the legends stem from the huge wall. No one outside us folk know what happens inside here and with the reputation Alaric has, you should expect a few rumors to get mixed in with the truth."

I nodded, pushing a piece of roti covered beef into my mouth. Dinner was virtually silent from then on, besides the occasional chatter from Jessabelle and I.

"Hold on," an annoyingly familiar voice spoke, breaking the tension, "I know you. You're that omega from Sword of Hera that disgraced her Beta family."

Jessabelle let out a disgusted sound and I heard a man's voice whisper something along the lines of 'not again'. I was more than relieved when I'd gotten through the entire tour without bumping into her. My day had been going well before her obnoxious voice ruined it.

Since she left Sword of Hera two years back, I hadn't seen her and no one in the pack had even heard from her. Not even her poor parents, who were really nice people. No one knew what went wrong with her but we had agreed on one thing; Sophia Miller was an absolute menace.

"Ignore her," Jessabelle mumbled to me but I'd already turned to face her. I spent my entire life ignoring Sofia. Her words got to me more than I would let on. I would often mask the pain with a smile and go about my day .

She bullied everyone, but I was her favorite target. Reason being my status as an omega. It was hard enough growing up with siblings two times stronger than me and my disappointed parents, she made my life 10 times harder.

I was relieved when she left but now I'm forced to breathe the same air as her once again. But it was different this time. I was still a bit shy but the after effects of Zack's rejection still lingered on me. She wasn't talking to the same Kira Peters that we left back at our old pack.

I flashed her fake smile, "Nice to see you again, Sophia. The pack thought you'd be dead by now but it's great to see alive and kicking."

Somehow the silence got even quieter as I scanned the girl two seats away from me across the table. Her skin wasn't pale anymore but had a golden hue and her dusty brown eyes were brighter in comparison to her dull dirty blonde hair.
