𝙄𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙜𝙤𝙠𝙞𝙩 𝙥𝙖𝙘𝙚𝙙 𝙞𝙢𝙥𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙡𝙮, 𝙬𝙖𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝘿𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙛𝙖𝙣𝙜 to return from the dawn patrol. She hadn't spoken to her father much for a few sunrises. The Clan was busy preparing for leaf-bare, sending out extra hunting patrols, and reinforcing den walls. However, Deadfang had promised her and her littermates that they would tour the clearing once he returned.

Each step was full of eagerness as Indigokit waited in the dim sunshine. It was slightly warmer than the past few days, and a mild breeze rustled the trees above. Although most warriors were already out on patrol, a few remained. Glancing to the left, Indigokit noticed Aspenheart and Thrushsong sunning themselves on the flat rocks close to the camp entrance. Indigokit thought about how nice it must be to feel the sun's warmth after a long day. But she was too excited to sit still. She shredded a dying leaf under her paws, her impatience growing.

"Hey, Indigokit! Do you want to play with Willowkit, Dawnkit, Russetkit, and me?" Fawnkit called her from the space between the nursery and the medicine den.

Indigokit didn't think she had the patience or the focus to play a game. "Er..no, thanks, Fawnkit," she replied. She could see Fawnkit's face visibly sadden. Indigokit let out a huff. Didn't he remember that Deadfang was going to show them around? How is he not ecstatic?

Indigokit looked away from the playing kits, focusing her gaze back on the camp entrance, waiting for any movement. She turned her head around as she heard pawsteps from behind. Skyrose slipped out of the nursery, Hazelflower following shortly after.

"Hi, Indigokit. You seem restless. What's the matter?" Hazelflower asked sweetly as she came up beside Skyrose.

"Her father wants to show her and her littermates around camp today," Skyrose purred, giving Indigokit an affectionate lick between the ears. Indigokit nodded vigorously.

"He's taking forever!" she whined, kneading her paws on the stubbly dead grass. Hazelflower chuckled, amused at Indigokit's jittery actions.

"Little one, the dawn patrol takes time. Those warriors get up very early to ensure we are safe while we sleep." A stern tone was laced within her mother's voice.

Indigokit ducked her head. "Sorry," she muttered under her breath.

Hazelflower frowned. "Why don't you go play with the other kits? I'm sure it would help take your mind off the wait," she suggested, angling her ears toward the kits.
