Quick disclaimer... The characters featured in this fanfic do NOT belong to me; they are all owned by Marvel Studios.

Here's some backstory so you don't get too confused, Mobius had recently found Loki and Sylvie again, and as the new director of the TVA, he let them live on the two sofas in his living room. About three weeks later he gave them a choice, work at the TVA and you can stay here, with proper rooms. Or, leave and try to find a place on the timeline. They chose to stay at the TVA, Loki decided to be an analyst, and Sylve is thinking of being part of the minutemen division with B-15. Alright, looks like you're all caught up!

(Present day) "Alright, so you can just place the request into the system and it'll get us the rooms?" Loki asked impatiently, standing to the left of Mobius, who was typing things into a computer.

"Yes Loki, I'm putting the request in for your and Sylvie's rooms now," He sighed.

Sylvie was leaning against a bookshelf behind them. She still had this lingering feeling that Loki hated her for what she did, honestly, who wouldn't hate me after that? I completely understand if he can't even stand the sight of me anymore, it's fine. She choked back tears as these thoughts crossed her mind. Why do I care this much about what he thinks? I mean, he couldn't possibly still care about me. He hates me! That was it, she'd hit her breaking point. Tears started to form in the corners of her eyes, and eventually, one made its way down her cheek. Her own words started ringing in her head, "But I'm not you."

"So, what happened between you two?" Mobius whispered to Loki.

"Right, uh, look I don't really think this is the best time to talk about that," Loki whispered, before looking back at Sylvie. When he noticed she was crying, he practically sprinted over to her. "What happened, are you okay?" He still hadn't talked to her since the citadel yet, and even this small interaction stung.

"Huh? Oh, right. Yeah, don't worry, I'm-I'm great," She lied.

"Are you sure?" He was trying to cover the worried expression on his face but it wasn't working, she could see right through it. As much as it hurt her to see him upset, the fact that he still cared, and looked genuinely worried about her, made everything okay for a brief moment.

"Yeah, I think I'll be fine," she smiled.

"Will you two just date already?" Mobius sighed. Usually, this kind of comment wouldn't bother Loki, but now, in these circumstances, it hit hard. There was a silence for a couple minutes, until the computer beeped, indicating that the rooms were ready.

"Sh!t," Mobius muttered under his breath, barely loud enough for Loki and Sylvie to hear him.

Loki walked over to where Mobius was sitting, "What?"

"Um, the computer messed up. Because Sylvie's name in the program is still Loki it thought you two were just the same person imputed twice, and it only selected one room," Mobius answered.

"You can fix that, right?" Sylvie asked after walking over to join them.

"No," Mobius winced, "But it should be fine, I mean it'll only be for the week."

Loki looked at Sylvie for a second, before turning back to Mobius, "I beg your pardon. A week!?"

"Look I'm sorry, but there's nothing I can do about it," Mobius sighed.

Time skip

"So... how've you been?" Loki asked Sylvie in an attempt to break the awkward silence. The two of them were standing in an uncomfortably small elevator in order to reach their floor.

That feeling was back again, Sylvie didn't know what to think. Was she supposed to be happy that he cared about her? Or, was she supposed to feel upset that she had ruined this, and he would never love her again? But she swore to herself that she wouldn't cry this time. She couldn't let him see that she cared. It felt like there was a war going on inside her head, but on the outside she was just standing there blankly.

"Sylvie?"

"What? Oh, yeah I'm okay,"

Loki could tell she was lying, but it didn't seem like his place to intrude. "Alright," he sighed. About one minute later they reached the two hundred eighteenth floor in section B of the TVA, the apartment section. The elevator dinged and the doors opened revealing a retro, modern hallway. "Ladies first," Loki stood to the side of the elevator door gesturing her towards the hallway. She shot him a look that said, you're annoying, but it's charming.

After finding their room, Loki unlocked the door. It was a very small room compared to the rest of the TVA. It was split into three rooms, a makeshift kitchen, a bedroom, and one bathroom. There was only one bed. Sylvie stood there shocked, "Oh h3ll no."

"Well aren't you kind," Loki muttered. He walked over to the bed and placed his bag on the left side of the bed, making sure that Sylvie wouldn't have her back to the door. He'd remembered that she'd said something about it during the train on Lamentis. Sylvie walked into their room and set her bag down on her side of the bed. She'd realized that he had taken the left side so she didn't have to, which she was grateful for, but there was already tension between them and she didn't feel like making it worse by saying anything. The only thing she said was, "we can deal with this later, I need to get to my job interview." He agreed, and continued to unpack his stuff.

As she was walking to the interview, she couldn't help but think about the fact that the only thing she had said to him was, "we can deal with this later, I need to get to my job interview." Uhhg! Why can't I just tell him!? Just apologize and move on. Even tell him that I... She clenched her fists at the thought, there's no way I could actually love him, it's just my narcissism, or something like that. She stood there alone in a hallway for a minute before an analyst ran straight into her, causing them both to fall on the floor. She landed on her stomach, and the analyst landed on his side.

"What the h3ll! Why didn't you move!? These are important papers, much more important than whoever you are." He barked. He frantically gathered all the papers, before flipping her off and walking away. She slowly stood up and could feel tears forming in her eyes. Not long after she was alone again, but this time in tears.

Loki had finished unpacking his things. He couldn't help but notice that the sword he had left in the citadel was in Sylvie's bag. Why'd she keep that? She could've just left it there. He sat on the edge of the bed, desperately trying to think of something other than Sylvie. He tried everything, but somehow he always seemed to go back to her. My emotions, that can't be about her... Why was she so upset earlier? I'll find something to make her feel better.

After the interview finished Sylvie had a good feeling about her chances at getting in. She had duly noted all the tips that Mobius had told her about the Minutemen, giving her a slight advantage over the other volunteers. She hadn't realized it yet but she was subconsciously walking to her and Loki's room.
