This was crazy. Not once had he ever had eyes for Joseph. Where did this come from? He had to shake it off.

Junior had room to be gay. He wouldn't be surprised if Junior came out one day. But Joseph? No way. Theres no way Joseph could be gay.

Liking a straight guy was emotional suicide. His feelings are destined to be burned and then brutally stomped on.

"Uh Cody? Helloooo." Joseph waved his hand in front of Cody's face.

Cody snapped out of the trance he was in. Junior sat on the ground holding an ice pack to his head, groaning and whining.

Suddenly he was by the whiney boys side. "Shit, I'm sorry, you okay?"

"Yea, whatever Cody, I'm fine, barely even hurt."

"Dude you were on the verge of tears-"

"Shut up, Joseph!" Junior snapped. "I'm going to my room. You guys can go home."

Without waiting for a response Junior got up with his head pack still held up to his head and made his way upstairs leaving Cody and Joseph alone in the living room.

Cody rocked on his feet with his hands at his side. "So.. you wanna go to my house..?" He held his breath waiting for an answer, hoping Joseph would say yes, praying.

Joseph shrugged his shoulders before he said, "Why not?"

The two boys walked silently to Cody's house. It was just down the street so it was only a ten minute walk.

That walk felt like hours to Cody.

He broke out in a sweat. Why? He didn't know. He had known Joseph for over a decade. Suddenly now it was an issue for him just to walk with one of his best friends?

They finally reached Cody's house. "Before we go in.." Cody started, paused, and look at the front door and cautiously settled his hand on the door before he began to speak again. "My dad.. well you know how he is. Just- don't make conversation."

Joseph made a weird face, "Okay?"

Cody led the way and saw his parents sitting on the couch watching a movie. "Hi mom, hi dad. Joseph and I are gonna hang out in my room."

"Okay Codykins!" His mom replied.

"Boy! What'd I tell you 'bout having people over without telling me?" His dad, well technically step-dad called out.

Cody ushered Joseph to go to his room so he could finish the conversation.

"Oh Tyrone, be happy he's finally hanging out with people that aren't his little dolly!"

"I'll deal with yo ass later."

Cody decided he didn't want to continue this any further and hurriedly met with Joseph in his room. He found him shooting with the mini basketball hoop Cody had on his closet door.

They have never hung out alone before. This was weird. Cody was extremely uncomfortable because he didn't know what to do or say.

"How come we never hung out? Just the two of us I mean. Like when Junior Couldn't hang we just went our separate ways." Cody blurted out breaking the ice.

Joseph thought for a moment. "I used to think you were weird, y'know.. especially with Ken. But I don't know. After you grew out of it, I was nervous too?" He shrugged and continued shooting the mini basketball. The ball bounced back to him after every shot so he didn't have to move.

"Nervous? Nervous how?"

He stopped shooting for a second. "I felt intimidated. Once you stopped with all the Ken shit, you kinda become popular. Almost felt like you thought you were too cool for me."

Too cool.

Too cool? Joseph was the most popular person Cody knew, or even hung with. Too cool?

"I don't think I'm too cool for you. It's the other way around Joseph."

"Well at school you just got a lot more friends, became more known. I don't know. It's stupid."

Cody didn't know what to say. So instead of talking he gestured for Joseph to pass him the ball.

Too cool?
