Chapter 21 - cruel summer

JJ POV

Pope and Cleo somehow wound up finding an additional clue, it was a drawing in a cave in the middle of the rainforest. It was a latin inscription as Pope called it, whatever the hell that should mean. He translated it to " Look up into the face of the sun and you will find what most desire."

" What most desire ?" Cleo said " Man that could mean anything." I chimed in " Why again should we look directly into the sun ? Does some ancient god want to blind us or what ?" Pope was rolling his eyes " We don't need to take it literal I mean the romans were known for throwing around metaphors and sayings all the time." " I'm gonna take a breather and look around outside, just call me when you find anything !" and with that John B vanished and Kie started to look at Sarah . " Is everything alright ?" she asked and Sarah shrugged her shoulder " You tell me Kie, you tell me.." They both went off somewhere for what I imagined was a very serious talk because I could tell from Kie's face that it was nothing funny at all. So I joined Pope and Cleo who were crouching down in the sand trying to decipher this weird latin phrase. " Face of the sun....face of the sun....wait isn't a sun with a face on the football shirts from Argentine ?" It suddenly came to me and I got up from the ground with a jump. Pope slowly started to nod his head " Yeah it is...it's also on the argentinan flag but we're in the middle of the caribbean what is the connection there ?" Cleo answered fast " Man, Argentine and the caribbean islands were both colonized by Spain, those fucking bastards." Pope got excited " That's it ! And the spanish people were known catholics therefore the writing is in latin ! Shit, but what are we supposed to do with all of these connections ?" " It says look up into the face of the sun, doesn't that mean we have to go to Argentine ?" I asked cautiously and Pope slowly started to nod his head. " We goin to South America ? I'm stoked already man, always wanted to check it out !" Cleo got up and gave me a high five " This was some good team work, man !" " Yeah it fucking was !" I said and got Pope off from the ground who was giving me another high five. " Let's rally the others !" 

" Already on it !" Cleo yelled while running outside to get the rest together. The faces were priceless and by that I mean totally derailed and priceless when we told them that we were bound to go to Argentine. " You sure Pope ?" John B asked and Pope nodded " Never been more sure." Cameron started to smile " I mean I have nothing against a trip to South America, I always wanted to go there !" " Yeah me too, so let's go crew !" Kie said and came to me to give me a kiss. I kissed her back and said " South America, Baby !" She jumped on my back and I gave her a piggyback ride down to the shore where our boat was bobbing around slightly in the sea. 

Kiara POV

Cleo, me and Sarah were trying to get tan on the sundeck of the boat while Pope was figuring out the route to Argentine in the steering cabin and John B and JJ were fooling around on the deck below us. " You see now he's normal again, doing stupid shit with JJ but as soon as I wanna talk something serious, like about our relationship or how he refuses to open up sometimes he just completely transforms and it makes me second guess myself all the time." Sarah sighed after finishing her long sentence and lied back down on her striped towel beside me. " That's how they are though ! I mean it took me a while to get JJ to really talk to me you know other than the unserious shit he always talks about but with some time it started to work and we both opened up to each other in a different way than before, you know as friends." " Don't even get me started on Pope man, that took me so much effort like at one point I really said to him like, do you even want to be with me or anyone ? That fucking shocked him, man and he started to change from that minute, I think he got scared." Cleo added while chuckling and handed me some sunscreen from behind her. " I don't know I don't really wanna talk about our communication issues on our trip to South America but I somehow have to get it out my system." After I put on some sunscreen I turned my face to Sarah and pulled my sunglasses down on my nose " We're here for you okay ! You can literally unload all the shit, we don't care !" " Thank you, I love you and I mean I really love us, the girls, I don't really know what I would do without you two." Sarah was smiling and Cleo commented " Girl, are you trying to make us cry ? Shut up, we love you, this here is forever, man." " It is." I added and grabbed Cameron's and Cleo's hand at the same time.

A while later we were en route to South America and JJ was handing out beers to everyone, I motioned him to come sit beside me on the deck. " Hi." I said to him before he leaned down to kiss me. He sat down behind me, so I could lean my upper body and head against his chest. He started to play with my hair and I opened my beer to take a sip. " You look hot while drinking, Carrera." he said and I started to chuckle " Shut up." I handed the bottle to him and sat up more to catch a better view of the ocean surrounding us.
