"Ow!"

I sighed and poked my head inside the shed door, "you okay in there Haley?"

"youre shed is really messy" she commented as she pulled herself up from the sea of sleeping bags that had just fallen on her. I held in a laugh.

"It was your idea to look through the shed for who knows what reasons!"

Haley looked up, her hair tangled in a mess, she looked at me sheepishly... "I needed some money! I thought maybe we could have a  garage sale..."

" You are too much haley!"

When she didn't respond... I poked my head in again... She was looking at something "Haley?

"WOW!! Austyn, come here"

 if you don't know me... then My name is Austyn. Before you ask... I'm a girl. My parents named me Austyn and I sort of like it... It's different. Anyways, I'm 15 and am pretty normal, I have 3 best friends, Haley, Miles, and Julian. We sort of balance each other out, it's cool.

I make my way through the sleeping bags as Haley ushered me over.

"Look!"

It was a small watch with a chain, that didn't work. "Wow! Haley what a find! A watch that doesn't work!" I drawled sarcastically.

"but look!"

I did, and not only did the watch not work properly... it went backwards.

"That's freaky" Haley chirped "What if the world went backwards...then everything would be like, upside down! That'd sure confuse people!"

What's really freaky, is that I had no idea how right she was.

"Well... I better go home and get my algebra and biology homework done" Haley commented, starting to walk back outside.

I made a face as I realized that I also had homework to do.

"Okay... maybe I'll Skype you later?" I asked, not wanting to be lonely.

"Nah, I have hockey practice"

"okay well we are all still going to Starbucks tomorrow right?"

"Definitly"

"Okay see you tomorrow morning!"

"see you" I started making my way back to the house when I step on something shiny, leaning down, I see the stupid watch Haley had found. I scooped it up and slipped it into my pocket, then made my way into my little house.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I drift into consciousness as my alarm blared, I groan and get up. My alarm clock is on the opposite side of the room so I actually get up to turn the noisy thing off, and normally, it works. I snatch my safe and pull out my Starbucks gift card, putting it out near the sink so I don't forget it. I slip on some dark jeans and a white tank top with a navy blue hoodie. I go downstairs while pulling a brush through my wavy dark brown hair. after I've had some breakfast and brushed my teeth and washed my face... I pull on some black and white tweed Convers and headed out the door. When I got to school I spotted Miles and headed up to him, when he saw me he grinned " Hi Austyn!" he had some homework in his hand. That was due yesterday. The teachers let him off the hook alot because he's autistic.
"BOO" I freaked and literally jumped 5 feet only to look around and see Julian grinning at me, his messy tofee hair dirty and flying everywhere. I scowled and could hear Miles snickering behind me.
"Yoo hoo" I heard Haley singing as she walked up to our little group, "Who's ready for Starbucks?" The bell rang and we were pushed into the school by the mob of people behind us.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I heard the bell ring in my ears as I jumped and immediately turned red with embarrassment. I was almost sleeping in class! I heard Haley chuckle beside me as I quickly got my stuff and bolted out the door. Stuffing my homework in my backpack, I sprinted down the hallway and made my way to the flagpole in  5 seconds flat. Julian and Miles had beaten me. AGAIN! My shoulders sagged in defeat and I moodily walked up and said hi. Haley walked out of the school doors and we start to walk to Starbucks and made it there in ten minutes. We went to the back of the line and waited, already knowing what we were going to get. Miles, a hot chocolate, Haley, a vanilla bean frappachino with extra chocolate chips, me, a double chocolate chip frappachino, and Julian, a coffee. A familiar glint in the corner of my eye catches my attention.I look to the side and see a middle aged man with a watch, that looked exactly like the one Haley had found in my shed, my hand subconsciously goes to my pocket. It was still there. A little voice in the back of my head  told me to get closer to it to see it better, and it has never been wrong, so my mind formed a plan as I reached into my back pocket, and pulled out a pen, and lightly tossed it under the table of the man. I muttered under my breath,

"Shoot!!"

Haley looked over and I pointed to the pen and walked up to the man and I asked if I could get it. He seemed a bit surprised at the request but said yes. I reach under and pick it up and get up slowly, looking at the watch, it was indeed the same as mine, and my free hand floated to my pocket and reached inside and grasped it. I narrowed my eyes and looked more closely. My eyes widened at what I saw. The watch not only looked exactly like mine but it went backwards too! My heart pounded painfully in my chest as he motioned me towards him, I quickly glanced back, only to see complete strangers everywhere, Miles, nor Julian or Haley were in sight, my sensible side told me to run, this guy seemed way to mysterious. Yet the irrational side urged me to sit down, it would be rude to turn down his offer, and something told me it was important. I gave in and took a seat, he beckoned me closer, my adrenaline was going sky high and my feet were itching to run. The words he mumbled made my mind reel and I felt dizzy and I refused to believe him. He said "Your friend was right, the world will go lopsided if time goes backwards. You are the new generation, you and your friends will save humanity." He brought out the watch, I took mine out as well. He gave his to me and as I clasped one in each hand. He looked at me with a serious look on his face. "That is all I can tell you. My job is done." with that, he got up and disappeared into the crowd. My mind went into overdrive as Haley came up with Miles and Julian trailing behind.

"Holy crap! What happened to you? You look like you saw a ghost" Julian looked at me with a concerned expression.

"Austyn, we've got to get you home!" I shook my head, and the words tumbled out of my mouth before I even realized what I said

"No. I need to talk to all of you someplace private, I know it'll be hard to believe, but I know what I heard, and I believe every syllable of it." I said firmly, Miles looked confused, but Haley and Julian just nodded. and steered me out of Starbucks. We got in Julian's car, and headed to Marigold, our old elementary school. There are woods there, and giant rocks that we can just sit on and talk.

Once we are all seated I recited everything. From when Haley found the watch to when the man just got up without a word and headed off. Haley's eyes were boggling out of her head the whole time. Miles still looked confused, and Julian was deep in thought. When I finished, there was silence, I drew in a shaky breath, and let it out slowly.

Julian looked at me, and just as he was about to say something, Miles burst out laughing.

"Seriously Austyn? You expect us to believe that? I may be autistic, but that sounds like something that would happen in a cheesy drama movie!"

That did it. I stood up, and just as Julian said "Austyn..."

I didn't hear the rest of his sentence, I was already gone. But not for long. Julian's arm appeared and he held my forearm and held it in a vice grip. I looked at him. And he said slowly,

"I believe you"
