Jay entered the room just moments later, putting his phone back in his pocket. He'd been busy trying to mend fences with Chelsea, and by the look on his face, it clearly hadn't gone well. DrRosewood glanced at him and then looked back at Lennox.
"I'll go and check when you can have some more meds." He stood up, leaning forward to gently kiss Lennox on the forehead.
"Thanks dad." She forced a smile, watching him leave and shut the door behind him as Jay came to take his place.
"You fix things with Chelsea?" She asked.
He raised an eyebrow, giving Lennox her answer.
"I'll take that as a no."
He sighed as she watched him run his hand over his face and shake his head.
"I'll deal with it."
"If you need to go,"
"No, I don't need to go anywhere."
"Jay it's fine. Caleb and Skye-"
"Are at school." He watched as the realisation of what day it was hit Lennox.
"Right. School. Forgot about that."
"Yeah."
"But if you have more important things to handle, then I'm sure I could survive on my own for a while."
"Yeah right, you tried that, look what happened." He nodded to her leg, and she narrowed her eyes at him as he smirked. "So I think I'll stick around."
"Okay, well maybe don't take a nap this time."
"Very funny."
The room fell silent. Jay kept his hands in his pockets, looking at Lennox's cast for a minute or so before he spoke again.
"Did you find anything?" He looked from her cast to her eyes as she watched him, slowly shaking her head.
"No."
"Really? You made all the effort to get out of here and go back to the house, you're telling me you did all that for nothing?"
"Yep. I didn't find anything. Was hoping I would."
She had a look on her face that made Jay believe her. It was the same face she made when she tried to convince him that it wasn't a big deal that she'd been expelled from grade school, not long after they'd first met. In reality, she was devastated, and he could see now that she was angry as hell about coming back empty handed. She shook her head as she went over the visit to the manor in her mind.
"I just wanted to find something that would explain why Sasha had to die. That note, the riddle we had, I went over it a thousand times I couldn't figure it out. I just wanted to know why."
