Seven is from Augustine's perspective of when she is seven years old. she reflects on her time in youth with her best friend at the time, Betty. During this time, Betty's father was short-tempered and would frequently lash out at Betty and her mother, which caused Betty to find refuge in not only her closet but also in the woods where she would play with Augustine. Their imagination is used to escape the dark reality of the world, even when Betty's dad left. Unknowing to Betty or August at the time, he would never come back.
