**Author's Note: Originally, the Tattered Cloth was going to be a prequel novella for another series I was working on in the same universe. This one happens fourteen years after the events in the Tattered Cloth, and actually had Melia as the main focus throughout the story. I was shooting for a trilogy, and thought the Tattered Cloth would make a nice side-story to release between books two and three. As the story progressed, however, I realized that I wanted to focus on Eijiro, instead.
I might finish Mage of Thorns in the future, but a lot of the original concepts i had have already changed. For example, in MoT Zaramians weren't afraid of flowers. Melia still has strong connections to her home, and while she calls Eijiro "Oyaji," it's ore of an endearing nickname rather than her thinking of him as her actual father.
Anyway, for those of you interested in reading deleted scenes and abandoned character concepts for both Melia and Eijiro, feel free to peruse the next few chapters! And don't worry--there's no spoilers for anything that's happening in the Tattered Cloth. :-)
