Chapter 1

Scarlet's POV

I closed my eyes as I let the tears fall as I recall the happenings in my life.Nine years have passed since my mother was shot and three years since my father drowned in the middle of the sea.The investigators said that he drowned himself because he was so sad about losing his wife.And stupid assholes for them to think I believe them.I knew exactly what happened,I was there but they think I wasn't.Even father himself didn't.

I was fourteen back then.We we're training in our backyard when someone called dad.After minutes of talking,dad called to me and said that he will be out for an hour because something important came up.He said it was about mom's case.He left me there and being the most stubborn girl I sneaked into his car,good thing the guards did not see me,and hid myself behind the seats.Father came and started the engine.He drove and drove until he stopped.I waited until he got out of his car.I silently peeked in the car's window,thanking it was tinted so nobody could see me.I watched dad walk towards a guy then all of a sudden he shot dad directly to his skull.I gasped.He killed my father.He killed my dad!I was shaking,so scared to move.I glanced to their direction and saw the guy throw dad into the water.I wanted to scream and ask for help but I remembered what dad said.

"If something bad will happen to me and you saw it happened,you need to get out as soon as possible and make sure no one will see you.Listen honey,this is the only way and call this number and don't tell him what happened.Ask this guy where I am and he'll do the rest.Remember hon,trust no one but yourself only."

So I did what he told me because I have faith in dad.I slowly went out of the car and run as fast as I could until I reached a crowded place.Good thing I always bring money with me.I called a taxi and told him my address.After paying I sneaked in our house and when nobody's around,I hurriedly went to my room,scanned my notebook and dialled the number dad gave to me and ask if he knew where dad is and he just told me he'll call when he knew.

Minutes later he called but what he said is definitely not what I expected him to say.

"Baby listen,we saw your dad floating in the sea.Someone told me that he jumped into the water and drowned himself.I already called Mrs.Ross to look after you while we are investigating"

Something's not right but I kept quiet because if dad was here,he will tell me to do so.

I don't understand what was happening.It's like I'm missing something big so I remained silent.I forgot my suspicions when I saw dad's dead body.It was like my life was taken from me.I cried and shut everybody out and built a thick wall within me.

Since then,Mrs.Alison Ross,mom's best friend took care of me but I still remember the first time I stepped foot in their mansion.Bad feeling and uneasiness crept into me.I also noticed the way his husband look at her like they were talking in their minds.

Something is not right,I thought.But I remained shut and silently investigated their actions until I discovered some things.

Because of my grief,I set what I have discovered aside.I let myself mourn in a different way.I always went to our old house and since father was dead,the maids and everyone living in the house were gone and until I turn eighteen,I can have all dad's properties.I went there to continue what dad had taught me during our private time.He taught me how to defend myself.Name all kinds of fights and I will knock you out in just a snap.From swords to guns and everything.I kept asking him why he let me do such things and he would just tell me I will be needing it in the future.I don't understand everything until the day he died.

He is preparing me for something and I will definitely find it out.

I opened my eyes with full determination and then a plan came into my mind.Good thing they didn't know I am that skilled.You see,I have this feeling that the Ross' are hiding something.

Speaking of Ross,Alison is calling me.

"Hello mom?" she wants me to call her mom

"Honey,where are you?"

"Nandito pa po sa school mom"

"As far as I remember,five o'clock ang out niyo.What time is it?"

"Oh sorry mom.Nakatulog po kasi ako,hindi ko namalayan ang oras"

"Okay.Just go home already"

"K mom.I'm on my way"

"Bye"

Pagdating ko sa bahay ay nadatnan ko sila sa living room na may kasamang dalawang lalaki.

"Hey there young lady,please join us here" dad

"Uh yeah.Hi mom good afternoon"

"Nerd" bulong ng lalaki

I mentally rolled my eyes upon hearing what he said.I looked at him,hurt evident in my eyes,and silently studied his features.Tall with defined muscles.Bakat ang 8-pack sa white V-neck shirt,dark jeans,blue eyes similar to his dad,pointed nose and lips like mom's forming into smirk.May hawig sila ni mom and then it hit me.May anak pala silang galing America at ngayon dadating.I bet siya to.

"Done checking me out?"

Grr!Another douche.I can't help but roll my eyes pero syempre hindi ko pinakita imbis yumuko na lang acting shy.

"So Scarlet,this is my son Jake and the guy over there is his bestfriend Calvin Trent Gray.Actually his parents and yours were close friends and I expect you will also get along.Guys this is Scarlet Frost Twaine,you know her parents died and no one is going to look after her so as her mother's bestfriend,I let her stay here"

After her long speech,I looked at he Calvin guy who's eyeing me suspiciously.Eyy?

"Uhmm.Hi?"

"Hi"

"Scarlet please show Calvin his room"

"Okay mom.Uhh Calvin?"

"Yeah,lead the way"

Tahimik lang kami habang naglalakad pero hindi ko maiwasang hindi mapansin ang mga matang maiging nakatutok sa akin,mabuti na lang at nakarating na kami sa tapat ng pintuan.

"Dyan pala yung kwarto mo.Feel free to call me or anyone if you need anything.I'll just take a rest.And dinner starts at 7"

"Okay thanks"

Agad akong pumasok sa kwarto at bumuga ng hangin.This is going to be a long night!
