Even though he could've guessed what she was getting at, hearing it out loud made eyes widen in shock as he sat back in the chair, considering the possibility. He shook his head.
"I mean...if that's true, and what you saw was a vision, a memory, and not a dream, then that means you have a much bigger connection to that place than you thought. A connection going back to before Kaila went missing."
"A connection involving my mom. That means that I've been going to that place for years, that what I thought was the first time was just me finding it again, for the first time since my mom went missing."
He shook his head in disbelief.
"It's crazy. But it's possible. It explains a lot about why you keep going back."
"But it doesn't tell me why. Or what my mother has to do with any of this. She's been gone since I was 7, I don't remember how old I was when she took me there, if she did."
She frowned as he thought back to what he and Dr Rosewood had talked about whilst Lennox was being treated. After a second or two he spoke.
"You didn't tell me Evergreen was the forest your mom went missing in."
Lennox considered his statement as she thought. I didn't tell you, but you knew anyway. She narrowed her eyes.
"But my dad did. Didn't he?"
Jay confirmed her suspicion with a nod. "He went white when I told him where we found you. When you were in surgery he told me why. And now you have this dream, this memory come up? It can't be a coincidence."
