Chapter.14

I went back downstairs from the basement quietly, the creaking of the stairs not being loud enough to alert my...wonderful roommates.

With each creaky step the more careful I become, it's nearly 12AM at this point, I must've gotten caught up with my alone time... I didn't even notice when the Skeletons were calling out for me or texting my phone.

"Where have you been?..."

I freeze hearing those words.... before sighing and looking over at who found me.

"H-hey! Nightmare! Uhm good to see you?" I let out a nervous laugh well avoiding eye contact. crap! I've been caught!

"What were you doing up there?...it's incredibly unstable y'know" Nightmare emerged from the dark corners of the room, his goop dripping constantly as the moonlight shined on him which is the only thing making him somewhat viable aside from the glowing eyelight in his socket.

I sigh knowing that I can't escape this situation "Death showed me...so I could be alone" my voice is just above a mumble well he just stares at me "I get a bit overwhelmed so I kinda like a break from it all..."

Nightmare then speaks up and not looking amused as he speaks in a cold tone "Death is trying to trick you...last time someone was up there they fell through and nearly died. Don't go up there"

Nightmare doesn't explain further before he enters his room, shutting the door behind him. I'm left confused and baffled that he'd say something like that! Death? Trick me? Sure, I can't exactly trust him sometimes and he nearly touches me a few more times then I'm comfortable with but... trying to kill me?

I scoff before walking to Blue's room to help him relax after being "missing" I walk over to the poor trembling Skeleton, before laying beside him and pulling him close.

Blue flinches at the contact then suddenly traps me in a tight loving hug as tears roll down his face.

"Where were you?...w-we couldn't find you anywhere..." Blue whimpers quietly, as he clings to my form, refusing to let go.

"Shhh...it's alright..." I carefully rock him back and forth trying to help him calm down and hoping he'll drift off soon.

Blue eventually drifts off in my arms and I sigh before stroking the top of his skull as he sleeps. After a few long minutes I also fall asleep.

In the morning I'm awaken by the happy jumps of the energetic skeleton I fell asleep next too "Y/N! I CAN'T BELIEVE I WOKE UP TO THE PRECIOUS Y/N!"

"Jesus Blue! Relax! I just woke up bud!" I laugh slightly at his excitement before sitting up with a soft yawn.

In his excited jumps, he managed to fall over and I happily caught him in my arms so he doesn't hurt himself.

"Be more careful little bud" I smiled softly before climbing out of bed towards the door, Blue following behind like a lost puppy. Once I opened the door I was shocked too see Dust at the door, just staring blankly at us.

"Dust m- COUSIN! Dust Cousin! You leave Y/N alone! You upset her!" Blue clung to my arm as he lectured Dust, though it wasn't that successful since he just rolled his eyes.

"Excuse me..." I mumbled while just walking around him, I didn't understand what was up with these guys but I just got Blue to the kitchen and went too the living-...

The basement door is opened slightly, the stench of death coming through the dark opening. Why was it open? I thought Horror was supposed to be down there, I thought...

I glanced over and saw Horror outside on a leash, seems the others let him outside for the day. I looked around before slowly pushing the door open.

I tried turning the light on but it didn't exactly work so I had to walk down the creaky steps without lights. A chill went up my spine as the stench just got worse and worse the farther I go.

But... nothing prepared me for what I saw down there.
