Alexandria ran her hands down across her face. Her hands fell to her side as she continued walking around the motel. With her chin dipping to her chest and her lips pressed into a thin line, she counted each step she took in a series of four as a distraction. Forcing her mind to focus on one thing rather than others. Counting 'one, two, three, four', over and over again till she had returned back to the motel room.
Coming back to the room, she noticed something off. Seylah's car was missing. She jogged back to the room and just as she passed Alaric's car she saw Hope knocked out on the floor with something that resembled a tranquillizer dart lodged in the side of her neck.
Alexandria immediately broke into a sprint and kneeled next to the girl, removing the dart from her neck and moving her head onto her lap. She softly shook the girl. "Hope?" she spoke and placed a hand gently on her cheek.
Alexandria frantically scanned her surroundings but found no one lurking in the parking lot. It was completely empty. Just then she heard a groan from Hope. Alexandria's eyes darted down to the girl in her lap. As she slowly regained consciousness, Hope lazily looked around till her eyes met the ones above hers, suddenly growing nervous.
"What happened?"
Hope pushed herself to sit up straight and avoided eye contact with Alexandria until she remembered a very important factor. "Seylah's planning on going to Malivore," she revealed in a murmur. Her voice still showed signs that she felt drowsy but she stumbled back up despite the werewolf's protests to take it easy.
Hope ran back to the motel room with Alexandria hot on her trail. But when the tribrid burst through the door, what she didn't expect was to find another creature. In a panic, she recited, "Ictus!"
The sea-like creature with blue-greyish scales and teeth as sharp as razors was sent flying back into the bathroom and Hope was quick to shut the door as well.
"Also, ick!"
"See! Danger magnet!" Landon exclaimed, his breathing becoming erratic as he stared at the door in fear.
"You can't even go a week without getting hunted by these things, are you serious?!" Alexandria complained, remaining on high alert in case the monster was to break through the door.
Hope turned to Alaric and Landon. "What the hell was that?" Hope interrogated.
"Uh– I'm guessing uh– Mer-man? A very pissed Mer-man," Alaric hypothesized, keeping the gun he had taken close to him.
"Why are the monsters still coming for that? We don't even have what they want," Hope asked the group.
"Unless Landon stole another key," Alexandria jeered which earned herself a glare from the boy but the expression was wiped clean from his face when he searched through his own bag.
