Killua sighed, rolling over in his bed. The sun was shining irritatingly in his eyes, and there was a grunting noise coming from the nearby bathroom. Killua let out a groan, slowly sitting up to get that damned light out of his face. The hell is that noise? Killua got to his feet, walking over to the bathroom. He peeked his head in only to see his roommate aggressively brushing his teeth. "What are you doing...?" His blonde haired roommate spat out the toothpaste, then huffed. "What does it look like? I'm killing all the stupid germs on my teeth." Killua shot him a dry life. "Katsuki, if you continue to aggressively thrash your teeth like that you'll peel the enamel layer off the top of your teeth and you'll get cavities like ten times easier. Effectively doing the opposite of what you're trying to do."

Bakugou just stared at him for a few moments, then grumbled and dropped his tooth brush. "You fucking serious?" Killua rubbed his temples. "Yes, I thought you were intelligent." He'd been forced to share a room with this hot head since he'd been living with Mitsuki. Killua had kind of been randomly teleported to Japan with no knowledge of anything around him and she'd pretty much adopted him. The two teenagers just kind of clicked. Not in a 'best friend' way, but they both recognized the fact they had issues and didn't make a spectacle of it. However, that didn't mean that there weren't frequent shouting sessions and disagreements. Despite that, the two tolerated each other

Sometimes.

"You calling me stupid?" Bakugou growled, turning to look at him. Killua let out a huff, placing his hands behind his head. "No, but you certainly aren't being smart." Bakugou rolled his eyes, then splashed some water on his face. "Whatever." Killua let out a deep sigh. "Also, it's 7:30, you have twenty minutes to get to your exam thing," he pointed out. Bakugou stiffened and shoved past him, muttering to himself. The U.A hero exam was today, and his roommate was shooting to be the top pro hero one day. He never shut up about it, honestly it was kind of annoying. Killua shut the bathroom door and got out his makeup kit, then proceeded to wipe the thick layer of makeup off his face.

He'd grown to prefer adding layers of foundation and concealer on his face due to the marks and imperfections that came from age, he particularly despised the scar smack in the middle of his forehead. Damn Illumi. At first the mark was small, needle sized. But for some reason it'd grown to be more prominent, and Killua wasn't keen on people asking about it. He zoned out as he started applying the makeup to his face. He hadn't seen anyone he knew in months and it was really taking its toll on him. Killua wasn't much of a people person, however being apart from the people he held dear made him stray further and further from sanity with each passing day.

"Killua! You're about to miss breakfast!" Killua was broken out of his musings by Mitsuki's voice, and he let out a sigh. He quickly glanced over himself in the mirror, despite having at least a pound of makeup caked on his face you couldn't even tell. The only factor that was obvious was his eyeliner. Ah, I look decent, and I'm hungry. Killua put away his bag, then shoved his hands in his pockets as he made his way downstairs to the kitchen. Killua sharply inhaled the scent of katsudon as he walked into the kitchen. Masaru and Mitsuki were both sitting there, enjoying the meal.

Killua took a seat beside them, nodding his thanks before shoveling a spoonful in his mouth. Why's it so spicy? Mitsuki seemed to read his disgruntled expression and laughed, then slid a different bowl over to him. "That one was Katsuki's but he was in too much of a rush to eat, here." Killua swallowed the rice even though it was unpleasant, then tentatively nibbled on the new bowl of katsudon. He blinked, confused by the sweetness. Usually Katsudon was a little sweet but not this sweet. "Wow this is actually really good-" he wolfed it down, famished. Killua had a bad habit of fasting a few days at a time to avoid having to sit at the dinner table. He felt kind of bad as Mitsuki always made sure there was enough for him even though he rarely sat with them.

Killua just could not stand family meals. It gave him too many unpleasant memories. In the Zoldyck mansion they'd have a family dinner every week, and everyone was forced to attend. It was always suffocatingly tense. "I know you prefer sweet to savory so i added a little bit extra for you." Mitsuki said, with a smile. Killua smiled back. "Thanks Mitsuki." Mitsuki watched him eat for a few moments, a worried look on her face. Killua shifted a bit, then glanced up at her. "Is something wrong..?" Mitsuki shook her head. "No, but if you ever feel hungry you don't have to wait for a family meal you know, you can just...come down and get something."

Killua chuckled softly. "I'm alright, but I appreciate the offer." Masaru let out a sigh. "Killua, it's not healthy to skip so many meals." Killua reached for something to say to derail the conversation, but found nothing. "Really it's fine, honestly it's more weird not to be constantly half starved-" shit, that was the wrong choice of words. He could feel the air getting tenser, and he cleared his throat in an attempt to change the subject. "Anyways, how do you think Katsuki is doing?" The two adults were quiet for a moment, he could tell they weren't keen on the subject change. But honestly, what he'd said was true. Especially when he was little. Killua had to kill one person a day, and if he didn't do that task he didn't get to eat. When he was first starting out, that regimen had been extremely difficult.

"I'm sure he's doing fine, blasting the living hell out of those robots."

The rest of the meal was awkward, and quiet. Killua silently ate his katsudon, not making eye contact with anybody. Thankfully moments like this didn't happen often, but occasionally it did. Mitsuki and Masaru knew Killua had some degree of childhood trauma due to the hints he'd dropped, but for the most part Killua kept his past largely hidden. It simply wasn't any of their business. And for the most part, they respected that. Although occasionally they'd pry a bit too much, and Killua let them know.

"Thanks for the meal," Killua said, getting to his feet. He carried his dishes over to the sink and quickly washed them. After he was done, he put his dishes away and went back up to his room. He settled back onto his bed with a sigh, rubbing his temples. Well that was a great start to the morning. He thought, sarcastically. Guess I'll just hang here until Katsuki gets back, not like I have anything else to do anyways.
