I rushed in my office and started apologising because I realised how late I Was for the appointment " I am so sorry..." I quickly looked down to see who the appointment was for "...Mr Ross I got caught in tra-"
"it's okay I understand there is so much traffic at 10:00 am on a Saturday morning" he said I could here the sarcasm in his voice. I walked to my cupboard putting on my doctors jacket . Then I turned to the little girl sitting on the chair next to him "Hey litha how are u " I asked with a smile . I knew litha because me and her parents go way back.
" I'm good aunt Lisa I just have a sor-"
"Aunt ? " Mr Ross rudely interpreted
"Yes I'm Close friends with her Parents and we go way way back . And u are because I know ur not her dad ?" I replied sounding colder than I intended
" Her uncle "
"okay then if u don't mind I'd like to give litha her check up " I said as I took litha by the hand and walked her into the check up room .
"umh... are u sure that u know what ur doing " he asked me as he walked in the room litha and I were in. I don't blame the nigga for asking, I walked in the here ten minutes late wearing denim shorts , a white top and some sandels . I didn't look like the ideal paediatrician. " Yes I know wat I'm doing "
15 minutes later
"litha has a sore throat so I'll give you a prescription for a anti-"
" sorry have we met before? "
"Yea 20 minutes ago" I said returning the sarcasm from earlier on. He chuckled a bit .
"Anyway as I was saying here is her prescription just give it to the out front and she'll assist u .... ow and I suggest that you stock up on ice cream and soup for litha"
"okay thanks"
"well then that's it bye litha and good bye Mr Ross"
"Bye Lisa is it " he replied
"yep"
"Are you sure we haven't met before tho? "
"yeah I'm sure " I said nervously.
I watched them walk out my office .I knew this day would come. i thought to my self while staring out my window.
"Sorry to bother you but do u know where SWEET TOOTH&SAVOURY BITE CAFE is ? , litha she'd like me to by her ice cream from there " Mr Ross was standing in front of my door.
"yes I do actually I'm the co-onwer of the place "I said proudly as I wrote down the directions.
"really that's pretty cool... umh can I ask you something? " he said and this time he actually sound sincere and I could sense he was nervous a bit.
"sure Mr Ross"
" okay first call me Dante... umh... umh are u sure we haven't met? " he asked with a smirk on his face .
"I'm positive Dante" I said handing him the peice of paper is with the directions .Is that all he was nervous asking me if we've met before
"Would you like to go out in a date with me" he asked with the cheesiest smile ever .
"Sure... why not "i said then he let out a sigh of relief
"how about when you knock off work today"
"umh today isn't a great day . After work I'm going to help set up for a surprise party and I'm also making the cake so , sorry I can't"
"okay... how about tomorrow morning? " he looked at my eyes for the longest time and there was silence the weird but nice kinda silence.
"umh " litha said clearing her throat. breaking the silence.
"I'll think about it... leave me your number and I'll text when I get a chance"
"Yes... " him and litha said as they high-fived.
After they left I sat down and started preparing for my next appointment.
