...Kofo wasn't on her bed.
Earlier on, whilst I had glanced round the room, I hadn't noticed her empty bunk. She wasn't on it. The whole place was dark but it was still possible to make out a person's presence on their beds from the little streak of light illuminating from the convent and from the protrusion of their bodies.
What if Kofo was actually the shadows? What if she was the one behind this the whole time? She was the supposed Queen of Coast anyway. It'd only make sense if it were her, and there was a logical explanation to back it up.
She was probably having a meeting with her fellow Queen of Coasts and cohorts. But why'd she be having it in Apartment C? That wasn't even her Apartment. And why hadn't she seemed offended when Kate talked about it the other day? She had even confessed to being scared. But all that was probably a part of her agenda to take our minds off her completely.
"Go naw." Kate suddenly poked me. I hadn't even realized I had stopped. I continued to stand still and she continued to poke. I would have retorted had I been in a normal state, but I was too scared and I also didn't want to make a noise and wake the others up, this was a secret mission. I took a little step forward, not stopping for once in my pleading the Blood of Jesus.
My breath hitched as I stepped my feet a little in Apartment C. It was just a little step. I was still more in Apartment B than C. It's not too late. Run away! My mind screamed at me. I shut her out immediately.
I took another mini step, a while later. Kates pokes weren't going to pressurize me. I was probably dying soon so I should at least be allowed to take my time. The idea of telling Kate that the ghost was Kofo flashed through my mind, but they were friends, she'd never believe without seeing for herself, and what if I were wrong?
With a few tiny steps more, I had reached the dreaded Apartment. I was beyond certain my heart would jump right out of my chest any second. I cast a quick glance at the locker side of the Apartment and saw...nothing. I sighed aloud in utter relief.
"Oya there's nothing here, let's go back to sleep. Goodnight." I whispered to Kate, turning around, headed to my bunk with no further ado.
"Did you look at the locker side?" Kate swiftly held and dragged me back by my night dress.
"Yes." I whispered.
"Which locker side did you look at?" She questioned inquisitively.
I kept mute.
"There are two locker sides, one at the left and another at the right. Which one did you look at?" She asked again.
"The one at the right." I answered slowy.
"It's at the left side, why would you look right? It's the one at the left." She revealed and I could picture her smiling evily in the darkness, so determined to see my end all because I had questioned her conspiracy theories.
The entrance door of Apartment B slammed loudly at that moment. My heart flew as we both froze in horror, clutching each other's hands tightly. Ewwww!
We watched a figure slowly walk into the room. Ms!
It had to be Ms. She must have stepped out to make use of the toilet and she was using the Apartment's route as usual. In a second she'd be next to us, and there was no way she could pass without bumping into one of us and we couldn't move. Our feet's were rooted to the ground, literally.
Ms went still for a second. She had definitely seen us, she was looking intently in our direction. Even in the piercing darknesss she could see us. She could! And I was sure I saw her raise up her big fat cane, but she all so suddenly walked over to one of the bunks in the room, simply hopped on and laid down on it.
