Go, Wildcats! Go, Dragons! Go! Go!
The sounds of heart beats and the constant cheering coming from people around the gym could be heard from a mile away. Today is our Volleyball State Championship Game. After all the hard work and harsh training, we finally made it here. It's exciting yet nerve-wrecking to be standing in this crowded gym. You may never know what could happen. We could win. We could lose. Anything can happen.
Right now, We're in the middle of our last game. Our team is tied with the other team, the Wildcats. The Wildcats won the State Championship three times in a row. They were known for their quick and rapid pace. They were almost unstoppable. Hint the word " almost". Each of their team members were stuck up and arrogant. They believe they were invincible. Well, they thought wrong. We, the Dragons, were the first team in 3 years to be able to come up with a tie with them. They haven't had a competing team in years. Man, the look on their faces when we were able to catch up with them was priceless. They looked both stunned and almost in disbelief. I believe everyone in the gym was shocked.
As the ball is being tossed back and forth over the net, the coaches from both sides are yelling instructions to their team members. Rapid foot steps were being echoed around the gym. Tapping and bumping sounds could be heard from each team members, who were trying to keep the ball from touching the ground. The atmosphere was both intense and full of energy. The score right now was 23 to 23. Both of our teams needed two more points to declare the State Champions.
We were all tense and nervous. I was nervous. Today is a big event for us. This was both our dream and goal. The seniors needed to win this game because some of them wanted volleyball scholarships to their chosen colleges. We were all inspired to win, not only for our school, but also for the seniors who were graduating this year. They've helped us become a team. It was the only way we could pay them back for being there for us through the good and bad days. They were an inspiration to us, so we gave it our all throughout the whole tournament.
Some may say that we were being too serious, but this is all we've ever worked hard on. To be honest, I'm pretty sure that each of our teammates were thinking the same thing.
I think a few months ago I wouldn't even thought about this. I would've just think of it as a silly game not something that would later become a part of my goal. Now that I think about it, I made a huge progress over the months I've been here at this school. This team had changed me in ways that I have never dreamed of becoming. Without me even realizing, each and every one of them had slowly wormed their way into my heart. It surprised me at first because I've worked so hard building up a wall around my little heart. I was torn up inside. I put on a smile to show everyone that I was okay, even though I wasn't. The pain inside slowly made me feel miserable about myself. After I met them, I began to open up to them. I began to move on from the pain I've been feeling for a long time. Before I knew it, I started giving everyone a real, sincere smile. It felt good to finally let go of the burden I've been carrying on my shoulder.
Before I start telling you what happens to our Volleyball Game, I'll tell you how everything came to be and how I met these crazy psychos.
