Everly~

It had been two days since I'd healed the wraith in the woods and the secret was haunting my dreams.

My bed was sweat soaked and my heart raced as I jolted into consciousness, the wraith's furious gaze still in the forefront of my mind.  The bedroom was chilled and light was spilling in from beneath the door, light from morning sun.

Sleep was no longer an option and it appeared to be morning, so I rose to my feet and wrapped a blanket around myself, sliding fur lined slippers over my chilled toes.

My steps were quiet, but I could hear the crackling of a warm fire from the other room and saw my brother, tending to it. Aiden was stretched across the floor on his belly, soaking up the heat from the fire as he poked it with a long piece of iron. His body was clearly sore from over exerting himself during the fight a few nights prior and his movements were jerky and pain filled. He groaned and rolled on his side, pointing at his shoulder and abdomen.

"Make it stop." He chuckled, exposing the sore muscles to me.

I stepped over him, letting my blankets hit him in the face as I grinned and ignored his request.

"You need fluids." I said calming as I put water on the stove to make tea.

"I've had plenty of fluids." Aiden countered.

My eyes wandered over to the empty bottles of ale that Aiden and my father had shared.

"Not that kind of fluid."

"Please Evy. I'm dying." Aiden groaned playfully.

Giving him an eye roll, I readied my teapot before walking toward him, still fully wrapped in my blanket. He smiled up at me as if he had won some sort of game as I knelt down beside him and placed my hands on his head.

Focusing all of my attention to the parts of his brain that perceived pain, I closed them off one by one, watching a satisfied smile stretch across my brothers face. Aiden closed his eyes and let me work as I shut down the pain receptors, making the sensations seem dull and manageable.

Once I was finished I gave him an aggressive tap on the cheek that made him jump before I rose to my feet and left him on the floor.

"You still need fluids. I didn't rehydrate your muscles, I simply stopped your brain from sensing the pain."

"I wouldn't mind some of that tea." Aiden said as he rolled over onto his side and eyed the stove.

"I'm sure you wouldn't. So get up and make some for yourself you pathetic man-child. I'm done with you."

He let out a laugh that put a smile on my face. My blankets hit him in the face again as I stepped over his large body and greeted Kisha.

Kishas hair was brushed and she was fully dressed, always proper and put together.

"Are you making tea?" She asked softly.

"Yes, would you like some?"

Aiden scoffed and threw his hands in the air at my willingness to make tea for Kisha.

"You'll make some for her, but not for me."

"Exactly." I sassed.

Righting his posture, Aiden stood and stretched next to the fire, shaking his head at both Kisha and myself.

"Women." He scoffed under his breath.

In unintended unison, Kisha and I slowly turned our heads in his direction, daring him to repeat the low spoken word.
