A fire is merciless, it causes destruction to everything it touches and changes lives. It changes people too, and others around them. People will hear it on the moroi news, and think about is daily. But it will be forgotten eventually, everyone will move on, except for us. Those that heard the terror filled screams, who brushed death with there fingertips. We could never forget.

36 dead

47 injuried

And 1 missing

That one person missing is someone very close to me. But the thing is I know were this person is. I have to kill lissa even more. This is how I know.

...

I walked into my room and inhaled the dirt like smoke. Everything was destroyed, my clothes, shoes, jewellery, pictures. Gone forever. I felt tears start to fall from my face, half that stuff was ridley's and Olivias.

I felt a smooth, warm hand brush my tears away.

Dimitri.

I glanced at him and gave him a small, sad smile, which he returned. I think I like him, no love him. I realized that when he caught me, how safe I felt in his arms. But nothing could ever happen, he's my teacher and seven years older. Plus he has probably got some gorgeous drop dead model at home. It seems everyone likes me ,except for him. He doesn't flirt or smile that much really. I heard he had gotten friendly with Tasha Ozera, a disgraced moroi. I mean I'm sure she hasn't got as much swag as me.

Life really sucks sometimes.

Dimtri then cleared his throat and said " I have to go for a guardian meeting now, but I don't have to go if you don't want me too"

I really wanted him to stay, however he has important duties to do.

"It's okay, I'm fine really, thanks for catching me " I said back

"Okay, but if you need me call, I'll be right back if you do. And like I said before Rose, I will always catch you" with that he left the room, walking as gracefully as a swan.

I started to glance around my room, looking to see if I could keep anything. I then noticed something on my bed. A white card was set across my burnt pillow. It said.

Dear Rose,

Hopefully you are still alive and got the princesses out safely. If not then it's bye bye sweet Ridley. The fire was started by me and a group of people. This is because of something very important. Meet me behind the church after the Queens speech,

The blue hooded man

I felt a mixture of guilt and wonder cross My mind. The guilt was the same, I had gotten use to the feeling, like I was brushing my teeth. But the wonder was new. Why would they start a fire? What could cause them to do it, surely something big?

I stuffed the note in my coat pocket and pulled my hair up into a ponytail. I looked young and fresh. I then changed into a black dress, which I borrowed from lissa. It landed just above the knee and hung by my curves, in all the right places. I looked pretty awesome.

The bells then chimed to symbolise the queen was coming. Another person I was going to help kill. Wasn't that treason?

I felt no pity though. I had heard dark twisted tales about her, that made me feel sick. No one like her should be in charge.

I fast walked to the hall, and seemed to grab every guys attention. The dining room now looked like a room out of Disney land. It was golden and silver, and throughout the room that pattern stayed the same. Everyone had a seating plan. I would be right at the back, as I was deemed a trouble maker, and should be watched by the guardians at all times. All the important moroi sat to the front, directly in the Queens view. I don't know how they could party, after all those deaths.

The trumpets started to play as the whole room stood up, and bowed. Respecting there royal queen. She walked down like a snob, with her large, fat nose in the air. She wasn't exactly America's new top model. She passed the dhampir section very quickly, hardly looking at us. But the moroi was a whole different story. She would stand there talking to individual people. You could see who's parents had got in her good books.

...

By the end of dinner, the queen had fake cried about the people that had died in the fire ,and giving a dozen long, boring speeches. By the time it had ended I was jumping out of my seat. I had been placed by Eddie, Mason best friend. He was awfully talkative and couldn't flirt at all, but I still liked him.

I jumped out of my seat and started heading to the church. Dinner had been so intense, as me and dimtri couldn't stop staring at each over.

It was adorable.

I crept behind the church and held my breath, I was petrified.

"Look who's hear " that familiar despicable voice said.

I jumped around and looked at him. His face was still hidden by the hood though.

"Why did you do that, people died, I nearly died " I screamed at him

So much for acting cool.

"Hold down sweet heart. I did it to protect you"

"How " I whispered back

My courage had started to fail me

"You see Rose, someone new about our plans. The reason lissa was in your dorm room was because she was meeting someone. This person knew about your plan to help us"

"So you had to get him out, eliminate him " I finished his sentence.

He answered by nodding.

Who could possibly know?

"Who" I asked

"Mason"
