"You're majesty, I'm sorry but your husband was not in your chambers."

Chan was starting to become more frightened by the minute. He was pacing the floor, his wings fluttering anxiously.

His husband left for a morning flight around their kingdom hours prior and had not returned. He was nowhere to be found and Chan and his guards have been searching for him all morning.

"Check the gardens then. Have some others go check the kitchens and dining areas again, as well as the markets. Report back to the throne room when you are done. I'm going to search the forest."

"Yes, your majesty." His guard bowed and left, motioning to some of the other guards on standby.

Once they left, Chan flew as fast as he could to the forest to start his search. Desperation and worry acting as his guide as he searched high and low.

Felix, I will find you. No mater what.

...

The days passed and there still has not been any sight of Nimeltye's beloved queen anywhere.

Chan has sent search party, after search party, after search party, and he hasn't been found. He himself has taken the liberty of scouring the forests and plains for his lover but they have all ended up putting him in a worse mood each time as he returned empty-handed.

Not being able to find or help his husband has made him beyond frustrated, and not knowing what to do, he has snapped on more that one occasion. Each time apologizing profusely to the person on the receiving end of his frustrations.

Each day has been harder than the last, and each day Chan gets closer to his breaking point. At night he would cry himself to sleep, missing the comfort and warmth that his lover provided. And during the day he stressed and worried about how his husband was doing. He just wanted him back, by his side.

Without any other option and being desperate, Chan had some of his servants post notices within his kingdom as well as the human one. He wanted to be thorough in his search, but seeing as the Fae were not allowed in the human kingdom however they wanted, Chan was not allowed to search it or else he might start a war. But if his husband didn't turn up anytime soon, he might just fight the entire human army himself just to see him again.

He would do whatever it took to get his husband back into the comfort and safety of their home. Just so that he could see Felix's beautiful smile and freckles again. And their castle would be filled with his laughter once more.

However, to make sure that things still ran smoothly in his kingdom, he would resume his regular duties, as well as Felix's, during times that he was not actively searching for his husband. As much as he might be ready to start a war with the humans so that he could search for his beloved, he did not want any fights to start in his own kingdom just because he was lacking in his duties.

Deep down he knew that his subjects wouldn't do anything, because they were just as worried for their queen as much as he was. He noticed how the workers moved slower, how the children were less playful, how many of the people he would come across would have tears in their eyes. He understood, but he was not going to fail his citizens in this dark time. Felix would kill him if he left his duties to his kingdom unattended just because of him, no matter what.

So, he decided to keep busy in his free time. He would spend most of his time searching, but the rest was spent doing the workload of two kingdom rulers. He barely slept anymore in fear of another night full of crying.
