EMERY POV:
It was 5 AM and we were on the road to Arizona. The conversation between Calum and I was still fresh in my mind, and I couldn't stop replaying it over and over. I made the choice to not talk to Nadia or any of the other girls about it because they would just tell me something that I already knew.
I had to stay away from Calum, I was no good for him and I didn't want to drag him down or hurt him.
"What's going on in that pretty little head of yours?" Nadia runs her hand through my freshly washed hair.
I sigh, "Just nerves." I give a false smile that I hope she'll buy.
She thins her eyes at me before speaking, "You know, I have known you for a very long time Emery, I know when something is wrong." I knew she wouldn't buy it.
"I'm fine, really." I shake my head. I knew she wouldn't push me for any more information after this comment, because she knows that I won't spill anything.
She gives up and turns to the rest of the girls, gossiping about boys and other things. I wish that I had issues as small as they did. Nadias biggest worry was thinking about her dad kicking her off the insurance. Tatum, she worried about if her mother would stop sending her money every month, Summers and Ayden worried about the new hot boy of the week. I worried if I would make enough money this tour to pay bills, if my parents would come back in my life. I had bigger worries than trust funds and boys, but they didn't really bother to ask me about it.

We finally got to Arizona 5 long hours later. We were all drained from the bus ride and just wanted to stretch, eat and take a nap before the show but, we couldn't. We had to go straight to the venue for sound check and rehearsal. Today was going to be long and exhausting.
"My mic isn't loud enough, can you turn it up please, Joe?" Ayden asked our sound guy.
"Sure, thing sugar." He nods.
Joe and Ayden have a father daughter type of relationship, they fought like father and daughter, loved like it, but most importantly he has cared about her ever since working for us. Every time she would get out of a relationship, there was Joe with a cuppa coffee or tea for her. Joe was an amazing man and really deserved the most.
I played with the strings on my bass, trying to hear if it needed any tuning or adjustments before starting. Something sounded off and it was starting to make me mad. Every little thing lately has been pissing me off, an itch I can't scratch, the sling on my bass being a touch too low.
"Can someone figure this the fuck out please," I snap as I take the bass off my neck.
"Emery, breathe." I hear Ayden calming me from behind. "Let me see it."
I turn to her and hand her my purple bass guitar and sit on the edge of the stage, kicking my feet about. There is one person and one person only that is running through my mind right now, Calum mother fucking Hood. I want to text him, I want to ask him to help me fix my bass, but I can't, I need to just take a step back and be to myself, last night was a lot for me, almost too much.
"Here Em," Ayden brings me my bass.
"Thank you, I'm sorry I snapped, I'm just having a day." I apologize and stand to grab my bass.
"Don't apologize silly, we all have our moments, it's okay." She hugs me tight, and I feel a bit less tense than I had before.
"Alright Ladies, let's get this started." Joe calls us to our spots and sound check starts.
