I still vividly remember the day everything in my life went downhill. I had just moved to Mumbai, for college. I exited the airport with a heart full of hope for the days that would now await me.
I took a taxi from the airport and arrived 10-15 minutes later. The dean had assigned me a guide named Eshna, who was also supposed to be my roommate. I'd seen it in her profile that she was in her 2nd year
After wandering around the campus for a little while, I finally found her in the cafeteria. We quickly introduced ourselves and she took me on a tour of the campus.
"Heyy! Eshna right?"
"Uh yeah, I suppose you're Isha?" The campus had been an old fort that had belonged to a king from the 1680s. It looked so posh and rich, I simply felt like I didn't belong there. It had a royal vibe to it. After seeing the whole campus, she finally took me to our dorm room. It was a bit like a suite. It had a common living room, and 2 separate bedrooms. I excused myself to go and unpack. When I entered my room, It looked beautiful. It had a bed, a dresser, an almirah and a separate mirror. Immediately, I felt a connection to the room, as if I had been destined for it. I started unpacking and was done just in time for dinner. I texted Eshna and she asked me to meet her in the courtyard, where she would introduce me to her friends.
I went outside and took the elevator to the ground floor. I had been focused on my phone when the elevator arrived. I looked up and saw a guy holding the door open. I went inside and introduced myself to him. "Hi Isha, I'm Akshay" He said. He told me he was also a 1st year student, like me. I talked to him until the elevator reached the ground floor and exchanged numbers with him.
I needed to make as many friends as I could.
I then stepped out of the elevator and went to the courtyard where I saw Eshna and her friends. There were a total of 4 people, 5 including Eshna.
She introduced them as Maya, Rohit, Aditya and Moksh. I hung out with him during dinner and then me and Eshna went back to our room.
On the way back she said "Dekh Isha, Maya, Rohit aur Aditya bohot sweet log hai, lekin Moksh se thoda bachke Rehna, usne bohot kaand kare hai and he can get you expelled" O-kay then. That was interesting. Instantly, I felt curious and wanted to find out what he had done that would have made Eshna warn me about him.
