Love all gone

Chapter 1

Never once in her life had she ever met a man so arrogant, so cruel, so naive, and incredibly impatient. Then why should she feel guilty for running away, why does she feel love instead of anger and hatred towards this cold-hearted man?

Elise, she named after her mother. Almost all of her 17 years were spent, was by her uncle, Gabriel. Her father was unknown to her, all she knew was that she is part of a powerful mafia, the Romano family, NYC Conquerers. They had power over Brooklyn, Hels Kitchen, and China Town. Elise didn't know much about the mafia since everyone around her is secretive, especially her older brother, Pedro. Pedro was the only one out of the two siblings who met their father, he was appreciated since he was the next leader of the mafia, and because of that, he become cold.

Almost every night you can hear the screams of terror of his enemies and almost every night Elise sees her brother coming out with blood on his face and a cigarette in his hand which caused Elise to run off, scared of what her brother can do. It broke Pedro's heart that his sister fears him even though he is cold-hearted he still loves his sister and would do anything in his power to protect her.

Elise wasn't very fond of violence, murder, and drugs, she would distract herself with books, movies, and the stars. Their mother always used to talk to them about stars, planets, and galaxies. Elise misses her mother dearly but not as much as her brother even though Pedro never exactly showed love towards their mother, well that's what Elise thought.

Tonight is a very big special event for the mafia. Elise and her uncle were driving towards the venue. "What's the reason for this ball?" Elise asked with curiosity "The most powerful Italian mafia gang is coming here to bring peace to our war since there is going to be tension I suggest you stay close" He said in a serious tone. "When is there, not tension? Umm... What family is this?" "The Auditore family"

A few minutes passed till they arrived. Gabriel escorted Elise out of the car and took her hand, entering the building. Inside it was very modern and fancy which is no surprise. The ballroom was fairly crowded with a balcony and stairs leading up to it. Someone came up to Gabriel and whispered something in his ear, his face confused then turned to Elise. "I'm sorry Elise... I'm...." he sighed "I'm wanted elsewhere. I'll be back" he then moved close to her and whispered something to her. "Don't make eye contact, don't talk to anyone... If he finds you, he will take you away" his tone was deep but clear, he moved away, he's eyes were wide which sent shivers down her body.

He walked away, Elise wanted to go after him but tripped, she was preparing for the impact but was caught by a pair of strong arms. The person that held her lifted her. "Can you watch where you're going?" The voice was mixed with annoyance and calmness but Elise didn't look at him once, not caring, all she cared about was finding her uncle and knowing what he meant. Elise walked off ignoring him but was grabbed by her arm which made her look at him, his eyes widened a little but his face was serious, all Elise could think about was what her uncle said 'Don't talk to anyone,  repeating over and over in her head.

Elise forced herself away from his grip and walked off, making the man confused yet angry, he wanted to chase after her but someone stopped him. Elise went through the crowd looking for her uncle but doesn't seem to find him anywhere, soon after, the lights went out, and the ballroom filled with darkness till a spotlight shined on the balcony revealing a man who looks about in his late 50s, grabbing everyone's attention.

"Benvenuti, signore e signori(Welcome ladies and gentlemen)! Tonight is the night that we come together! Tonight will be the start of a new power! Tonight where two families come together with peace and strength! The Auditore and Romano family!" the old man said proudly, making everyone cheer. Elise remained silent with a worried look on her face. "Mio figlio(my son) will you join me?" the man gestured to someone, the light then moved to a man, the same man that caught Elise. His eyes darkened and narrowed. He walked up towards the old man with the single light following him.

"I, Giovanni Auditore have been on this path for many many years. But all of us have a limit. I have given my all for this family. My power, strength, integrity, and legacy must come to an end. Hopefully, you'll make your own, Lucas." he gave his son a proud smile and then turned back to the audience. "But he will not face this path alone. To bring both families together, he will have a wife beside him. Tutti(Everyone) please welcome the mafia Queen, Elise Romano."
