A little boy's cries could be heard in the distance as the city burned.
Surrounded by fire, he had nowhere to run to, he could only cry and scream, hoping someone would rescue him.
Nobody came, he started to lose hope, walls beside him collapsed, the ceiling crushed on itself trapping the toddler in between rubbish.
Suddenly, he heard a voice and footsteps approaching. He tried to make a sound but the only thing he managed to get out was a silent scream. The person on the other side somehow managed to hear him and started making his way towards the crying boy.
Once he finally managed to get through all the debris, the scene infront of him was a nightmare for itself.
There, laying on the ground, barely concious, stood Park Sunghoon, the heir to the throne of Amaryllis.
Barely having time to register the new information in his brain, the man heard a shriek, turning towards Sunghoon, he immediately went to get him out safely.
As soon as they got out the burned down scraps, the man looked around for assistance. He had to make sure the little prince was okay, of course he had burn marks and bloody scars but the man had to know if he had anything broken.
After almost half an hour looking for someone, he realised the prince and himself were the only survivors of this deadly incinarism.
He quickly started heading to the forest with the boy, unconscious on his shoulder.
He vowed to himself that he would make a better life for the boy, even if it meant hiding the truth from him and changing his identity.
Several years later
Just as Sunghoon was making his way out of the training grounds, he heard his phone ringing.
Looking at the number, he immediately took the call, it was his father, the king of their kingdom and the man he owned the most respect.
"Son! How was training, today?" his father ask genuinely interested by the teen's answer.
"Everything went perfectly fine, father. Although I must ask, why did you call me? I usually discuss about training with you at dinner."
Finishing his sentence, Sunghoon bowed to his mentors and pushed the doors to exit the grounds.
"Can't a father call his son at anytime?"
"Of course, father. I was simply surprised by this call, you rarely call unless there's something wrong."
"Well, regarding that manner-"
"Did something bad happen!?"
"Don't interrupt elders when they speak, and no, nothing bad happened. I just wanted to tell you to come home immediately after training."
"Why, may I ask? If you have something to tell me can't you just tell me now?"
"I'm afraid I cannot. Come home now and meet me in my office."
"Yes, father."
Just then the line cut off.
<I wonder what he has to tell me>, Sunghoon thought.
