Chapter One

"At least try to look like you are excited".  Says my mother who in my opinion is forcing me against my will to smile for a picture just so she can brag about it later on Facebook. Today is my first day of high school and I could not be more repelled by the fact that in less than 1 hour I would have to spend the day in a school where I do not know a single person.

Over the summer my family had to move from Ohio to Texas due to my dad getting a new job. I had to leave all of my friends behind including the person I am going to miss most, my boyfriend. Evan Chriswell and I have been dating for the past two and a half years. I met him at a football game when we were in 6th grade and we have been inseparable ever since. I hated the fact that I had to go from living 6 miles away from him to 1,235 miles. Before I left he gave me a promise ring and promised me that no matter how far away we are, we will still love each other. This freaked me out. How am I supposed to know what is happening in his life? He was my comfort and support and now he's not gonna understand anything I talk about.

My mother smiles and nods for me to finally get in the car. One advantage I had was I had my license, so at least I don't have to ride the bus.

As I pull into the parking lot, I can feel my face getting hot. I put the car in park and take a second to breathe. I watch some of the other kids walking into the school with their friends smiling and laughing, as I was about to throw up due to nervousness.

The first bell rings and I get out of my car and force myself to walk into the school.

When I first get into the school the hallways are filled with people and I can feel my head spinning. I walk into the office and right away am greeted by the principal and the lady at the desk. The principal gives me a tour of the school and then gives me the papers and stuff I need for my classes.

After that, I spend about 10 minutes walking around the school searching for my math class. One of the hall monitors saw me and finally took me to the class. I walk into the class just as the teacher is finishing taking attendance. I was not more nervous than before because everyone had a seat next to their friends and I was going to have to talk.

"You get one free pass because it's the first day but don't let it happen again". said the teacher as she gave me a stern look. I give her my name and she has me sit at a table with three other people, two blonde girls and a boy with black hair who already looked annoyed by my presence.

I take my seat and the teacher begins class. "So what's your name? mines Emma". Says the nicer blonde girl, her friend on the other hand had mad RBF and seemed like she didn't talk much in general. I tell them my name and we talk about where I'm from. This isn't going as horrible as I thought it would. Despite the boy who looked pissed off by me, the two girls and I were getting along kind of well.

This boosted my confidence as I walked to my next class, science, I hated science. I walk into my class on time which was a relief.  This time I sit next to a blonde boy who seemed quiet. As I sat down he turn to me and introduces himself. He looks at me and I instantly fall in love with his eyes, they were the perfect shade of baby blue, it was like I could see the ocean in his eyes,

"Hello?" he says in a confused way. I snap out of my daydream and panic. "s-sorry what?"  I feel myself shaking.

He looks at me and smiles.

He was the definition of perfect.
