"Zack!" I called excitedly running into his room, "Zack you wouldn't believe what just happened to me!"
Dark eyes fell to me and an amused smile pulled on his lips. Zack was always part of my life like an older brother. And in some ways, he treated me like I was a younger sibling. My own brother never listened to me but Zack always does.
"What happened, Kiki?" he asked with a happy sigh.
"Kaleb Green just asked me to the homecoming dance!" I announced, "He's the hottest guy in in school and-"
I stopped talking as Zack's face hardened. My excitement plummeted and my smile dropped. Is he not happy for me? All the boys at school go crazy over Victoria. Any one of them could potentially be her mate. This is the first chance I'm getting to start searching for mine.
"Zack?" I mumbled cautiously, "Are you okay?"
He breathed out shakily, "If you want someone to take you to homecoming, I will gladly do it."
I frowned at him. Why would he want to take me to homecoming?
"But Zack, wouldn't you rather take T'laina Cooper?" I mumbled.
He huffed and folded his arms, "You're so clueless, Kiki. I want to take you. Tell Kaleb I said to back off."
I blinked and examined him, slowly understanding what was happening. Was Zack jealous?
I gasped as my eyes flew open, seeing nothing but darkness. Was it still dark out? Where am I? And what was that dream?
No, it wasn't a dream, it's a memory.
I tried to sit up only to be held securely around my waist by two thick bounds of rope. My hands flew to them, frowning at the skin-like feel of them. No, they weren't ropes.
I looked down, two arms were wrapped around me and a warm wall was pressed into my back. My heart started to pound inside my ribcage. What—who was this? A familiar scent finally reached me, calming me down slightly.
Alaric. It was just Alaric.
His arms tightened again, pulling me further into his chest while my body froze. Why was he holding me like this? Is this his room?
I glanced around. No, we're still in my room. How did we end up like this? My mind ran to dark places but I quickly dismissed the intrusive thoughts as my nighty skimmed over my skin. I was still fully dressed so that definitely didn't happen.
The last thing I remember is fainting. Alaric must have put me to bed and decided to just stay with me. I sighed, my wolf yapping happily in the back of my head. Of course, she's ecstatic while I'm here confused.
