Chapter 14 I'll Do Anything

I heard machines beeping and opened my eyes " Jack!" I heard and tried to look at the voice knowing it was Rose " You're awake" she said and got closer in my view " What happened, I mean other than the car accident. The last thing I remember was passing out in an ambulance" she looked at me and sighed grabbing my hand " Jack, you died" I was shocked " They said you lost too much blood like you lost a lot, luckily a man donated his blood for your surgery " I just looked at her confused " Surgery?" " Yeah you broke your leg " I sighed " No don't sigh that's your own dumb fault if you would've stayed buckled we've both would've been fine!" She yelled at me and hit my arm " I saw you dead Jack! DEAD! And then I was in here and you died in front of me " " You are an idiot Jack I thought I lost you and I wouldn't know what to do with myself or what the baby would do without their father!" I flinched when she yelled and hit me " I'm sorry " I said and she rolled her eyes sitting in the chair " Yeah well sorry doesn't magically fix your leg so you can go home " I looked at her she wasn't in scrubs or the clothes she was wearing last " How long has it been since the accident" I asked and she looked at me " It's been 2 days Jack " " I should let the doctors know you're up" she said and left the room I looked around the room and looked at the clock "2:46pm" I said out loud and removed the blanket off of me and the oxygen mask " Jack what are you doing!? Get back in bed!" Rose yelled at me as I was about to get out " But I don't want to be in bed" I said and she shook her head " Ask for help you can't walk Jack you just woke up you can't get out of bed now get in bed and put the mask back on " I just nodded and laid down my back hurts so I got in bed without groaning in pain but my face showed it hurt " Good afternoon Mr.Dawson" The Doctor walked over with a clipboard " When can I go home" I sighed now Rose is going to have to take care of me when she's pregnant " Eagered to get out and you haven't even been awake 10 minutes " I just looked away and he took off my neck brace" Shouldn't need this no more" Rose looked at me and gave me a soft but sad smile " depending if your situation gets better than probably 2-3 days and you'll be on bed rest for a little bit " I just nodded "I know I missed lunch but could I still get food?" He looked at me " You can I'll go ask a nurse for you to get it " And I will get you hooked up to this" he showed me it was like an oxygen mask but it goes in my nose and under my chin he walked over to me replace the old oxygen mask with this new one as Rose stood up and walked over to my bed " I'll be back in a bit to check on ya" he left and Rose kissed my forehead " Do you want something Love?" She asked and I looked at her " To go home and eat real food" I did a sarcastic chuckle and she sighed "I know but let me go ask the doctor if I can bring you food" she kissed my forehead and left " Okay" I sighed as she left the room I just looked around and I started to doze off " Hey Dawson" I heard and looked " Oh hey Ellie" she walked over " How you feeling Rose told me you woke up so I figured I'd check in" " To be honest I don't know" I sighed and she sat down next to me " I mean I'm still trying to process the fact I died twice, she said I died right in front of her " " Jack she saw them doing CPR on you and rushing you from the ambulance to a hallway and she couldn't see you or even know anything she didn't get to see you till the yesterday when she got discharged and she went home got dressed and came back to see you, and then I- only Rose herself can tell you what exactly she saw but Jack she needs you she was constantly panicking thinking you were dead and they wouldn't tell her anything so that didn't help. She couldn't really eat or sleep " Ellie said and I sighed " Yeah I'm just the dumbass who cares about the love of his life and no-" " Jack of you would've stayed buckled this wouldn't have happened " I just stayed quiet thinking about Rose and what she saw when I died " " Hey Jack they have you in a diet so they won't let me but they'll bring in your food" she stopped I'm guessing it was solid food" in soon" she said and sat down next to me and Ellie I nodded " Rose what did you see when I died..." I asked looking at her eyes and she avoided eye contact " I'll leave you to alone just come out into the hall-" " No stay, Jack I I don't feel comfortable telling you now I want to wait till we get home" Rose said rubbing my hand which had IVS in it so she was careful" Rose" " No Jack when we get home" I knew she wasn't going to tell me this now so I dropped it" I'm going to sleep till my food comes " Rose released my hand and I moved it closer to my side it's really hard to get comfortable like this" I love you Jack" "I love you too" I whispered back to Rose and doze off but not for long as soon my food came in and I was right it wasn't a solid " Mr. Dawson" the nurse whispered and when I woke up I saw Rose laid out on between the two chairs asleep and a note from Ellie" Ma'am can you pass me that paper " I pointed to the note that was on a little table" Yes I can sir let me hook this up first so you can your nutrients you need" " Now normally we would put the feeding through your nose but we'll put it in your stomach because of the Nasal Prongs " So that's what this is called" So I'll have to move your sheets and gown may I?" She asked and I nodded she did she proceeded to insert the feeding tube which hurt a little bit to be fair they were putting a tube in my stomach that had to hurt at least a little " Okay all done" I gave her a quick smile " Thanks" she did put a small bag of crackers on my table and a bottle of water" There you go and now don't drink too much water and eat to many crackers at once okay" she smiled at me and I nodded as she walked over to the table grabbing the paper and handed it to me " Thank you ma'am " I nodded" You're welcome Mr. Dawson " " Just Jack works" I said and she nodded and left I guess crackers and water was the only food I was physically going to be eating in here when I went to move the table to hove over me the water fell over and made a noise which caused Rose to stir around and wake up " Hmm" she asked as she sat up " I'm sorry I didn't mean to wake you" I apologized picking up the water " It's fine, did the nurse come already?" Rose asked sitting up " Yup now I got a tube in my stomach wanna see it " I chuckled " No thanks " she smiled " She did give me crackers and water though, I just can only have a little bit of crackers and water at a time " she nodded and stretched" I wonder how long we were asleep it was 3:05 when I fell asleep "
