CHAPTER 1

The screams of people echoed across the city; the sky turned to a gloomy dark pigment covered with clouds from its blue tinge of color. Orange flames ignited the city.

A woman with silky dark brown hair flowing in its curls with large blue beady eyes, escorted me, with a look of compassion in her eyes. I looked behind her, people were running everywhere. I had no idea what was happening. The horse next to me whined.

'Drink this,' The woman said in her dulcet voice, looking at me, handed over a ceramic cup. I was sure that she did not have a cup in her hands before, it had come out of nowhere. I even had no idea where I was, but I felt an odd familiarity with her. I knew I should not trust strangers, but the woman's compassionate behaviour resisted me from doing so.

I took the cup.

A blasting explosion of a sound of a bomb caught everyone's attention. It made my ears ring. I realized I was having goosebumps. The woman looked back as well, and I followed her gaze, far away, bright orange-red flames were rising, and the screams of the people grew louder. I felt the temperature of the surrounding rising high. I had the urge to help them, but something prevented me from going.

'Hurry,' the woman said. I knew it was not wise to drink something that a stranger gives but I gulped the whole thing at once, with the fear that I had. It did not have any flavored taste except a very sharp taste like a surgical spirit. The horse whined again.

The woman suddenly lifted me and kept me on top of the horse- on its back. Its skin was brown as chocolate and soft as silk. The whole screaming sound subsided.

'I will see you soon- be safe,' The woman said, kissing my forehead.

Suddenly a dizzying sensation went through me. I tried my best to focus. The woman turned towards the horse.

'As grateful as you have been, escort him safe, but don't mention anything -,' The sound of another blast interrupted the woman, the burning flames a few meters away.

'GO,' the woman screamed, her dulcet voice turning to a courageous strong voice.

The horse galloped away, far from the attacks. I looked behind, as the woman's figure grew smaller and smaller.

I woke up. My heart was beating fast, I had my head resting on something, my hand wrapped around it and holding firmly which felt like reins, and I felt deep breathing. I looked around the first thing I realized was that I was on top of a horse indeed and I was galloping along with the horse, but it was not flooding with flames. I signed with relief; I was glad it was only a dream that never occurred but that's when questions started pouring into my head. Why was I on top of a horse? Where am I going? And the worst of all I could not remember where I was from.

I pulled the reins and tied it to the horse tighter which indeed stopped. I got down the horse, the cool breeze swirled around me. All, around me, was green spiky grass which moved swiftly with the wind. Far away, the tall trees were placed and bushes seemed that it would lead to a forest.

'Had a great sleep, master?' a voice deep as the sea echoed.

I jumped. I looked around, no one was there.
