Ugh. First day of my senior year and the only good thing about it is the fact that I only have one more year and I'm done. My parents are sending me off to Yale as soon as I'm done. It is nice to know they wanted me to have such a great future but it's all they ever talk about these days and I'm starting to get tired of it.
I'm a 17 year old girl that lives on the outskirts of New York City. The suburbs is where I've lived all my life but I've always loved the city.
"Serena, come down for breakfast," my mother, Lorraine, calls from downstairs.
My house is so big it nearly echoed and the thing about my community that bothered me most, all of them are rich, stuck up snobs. I guess I am one of them too but I treat everyone equally like a normal human being. I don't know what it is about living in big ass houses that makes people think they run the world but it does.
I quickly go down the stairs and walk into our big fancy dining room. My mom put tons of expensive paintings around the room along with our antique dining table and chairs. As my mother said, it's very vintage. My stomach rumbles as soon as I see the omelettes on the table and I immediately take one and dig in.
"Someone's hungry," my father, James, chuckles.
I ignore his joke and ask my mom if I can take the car to school. She agrees and says I need to drive more often anyway since I wasn't the best driver. My thoughts begin to takeover until I realize how much noise the people next door are making.
"What's all that noise?" I ask.
"The house next door has been sold to a college fraternity," my mother says, "and they're doing renovations I guess," she seems somewhat annoyed.
"They're very nice boys," my father adds.
"Did you meet them?" I ask confused.
"Yes. They came over and introduced themselves," he smiles.
I nod and smile, thank my mom for breakfast, and say goodbye to them. They have their own law office together so their hours are very flexible. Before I get into my mother's BMW, I glance over at all the shirtless boys working on the house. One of them makes eye contact with me but I look away right away. It was awkward and I hoped he didn't really care but sure enough he is walking towards me. I tried walking faster to my car but he was quick.
"Hello there beautiful," he smiles.
"Um...hi?" I say in a very awkward tone.
He was very muscular and don't even get me started on his abs.
"I'm Austin. Obviously we haven't met, otherwise I would've remembered you," he smirks and holds out his hand.
He's the cocky type.
"I'm Serena Coleman and I'm in high school," I say matter of factly as I shake his hand.
There's a gleam in his eye that I took as amusement. Is he laughing at me?
"No worries. I was just introducing myself to you since we're neighbors now," he flashes his gorgeous smile and I give him the best fake smile there is.
We both sit there for a few seconds just kind of looking at each other. Part of me hoped he would say more but I knew I had to get to school.
"Well it was nice meeting you Austin. Try not to be too loud," I wink and open the car door.
"The pleasure was all mine Ms. Coleman," he raises his eyebrows and watches me speed off.
I didn't know I had so much confidence in me when talking to boys. He was older and definitely way out of my league but then again maybe not. A lot of boys find my blue eyes, tan skin, brown hair, and my toned body extremely attractive at my school. Okay, I needed to stop, I just met the guy and I have a boyfriend.
Pulling into my private school was always a drag because parking was always full. Usually I get here early enough to find a spot but there were some "complications" this morning.
"Hey babe," my boyfriend, Nate, smiles when I get out of the car.
"Hey," I say enthusiastically and peck him on the cheek.
Nate had everything a girl could want. The looks, the charm, and the intelligence. I didn't really have a lot of friends here because most of them were rude as hell. Although, one girl I could relate to and her name was Nina Holt. She was a blonde with green eyes and a very petite body. She was merely 5'3 so she makes me look tall; I'm only 5'5. I guess I'm pretty average but everyone in my family is extremely tall.
My first class was English which I had with Nate. We're the typical high school couple, always holding hands and always showing affection. This morning was different though, for some reason I couldn't get Austin out of my mind. He literally had a model's body and every part of me was attracted to him.
"I'm thinking about throwing a kickoff senior year party this weekend," Nate whispers in the middle of Mr. Harper's lecture.
"Saturday's probably the best day," I reply quickly.
"Okay. I'll take you on a date Friday then," he winks at me.
I roll my eyes and agree at his charming offer. He was a guy you couldn't turn down and I guess that's part of the reason I was dating him.
School actually went by faster than expected and before I knew it, I was pulling into my driveway. Unfortunately, Austin was not outside along with his extremely hot friends so I just went inside and straight to my room. Even though my parents had flexible work schedules, they always stayed late so I never really knew when they would be home.
Netflix was my go to after school activity since it was a good stress reliever. Halfway through one of my episodes of gossip girl, I hear knocks at my window except it's pebbles being thrown. I slowly get off my bed and open my window to see Austin and some other very muscular guy next to him.
"Hi Serena," he says in a very cute voice.
"Hey Austin," I reply trying to sound annoyed.
"We're having a party this Friday," he smirks.
"And?" I ask.
"You're invited... so be there," he states more than asks.
"Is that all? I have a very important gossip girl episode to watch," I yell down to him.
"One more thing!" he yells, "I know who gossip girl is," he laughs and before he can say it, I shut my window. I peep out of my
window and see them walking away, thank God. I laugh to myself thinking about the fact that he knows who gossip girl is.But there was no way I was going to find out who she was until I finished all six seasons. My parents would definitely not be okay with me going to a college party but it's my senior year and he is a very hot boy. What else was I going to do?
