Opening Day! Our first show at 2:00 pm and our last at 7:00! We had to be at the theatre at 9:00 am but you know the rule. To be early is to be on time. To be on time is to be late. To be late is unacceptable. I woke up at 5:00, went on a jog, showered, changed my clothes, did my hair, and all before 7:00 am and all before Mike woke up. I was throwing bread in the toaster when Mike finally emerged from the room. Tommy ran out with some friends the night before I stayed the night at their apartment.

"Good morning, sleepy head." I smiled

"Good morning." He yawned his voice deeper than usual

I grabbed some Nutella and a banana from the cupboard and set them on the counter. The two pieces toast on the counter. I felt two hands slither around my waist and a head resting on top of mine. I grinned and began throwing our breakfast together. I didn't put banana on my piece because I'm allergic. It's not a common allergy but I have it.

"We should probably leave in half an hour."

"Alright. You excited?"

"Yeah! I am! I texted Ben and it looks like he'll be there along with the other Ben, Sky, Josh, and Jeremy!" I exclaimed happily

I removed Mikes arms from my waist and set his plate down on the kitchen island. I took a bite out of mine and remembered something. I ran to our bathroom and searched the cabinets and drawers for it. Eventually, I found what I was looking for and came back out to the kitchen. Mike looked confused as he ate his breakfast. I set the piece of paper on the island and looked at Mike.

"I wrote this on the opening night of Newsies what was that two years ago now? I meant to give it to you." He pulled the paper toward him

It read,

Mike, I think you're cute and funny. Would you like to get dinner with me sometime?
(Circle one)
Yes No

He laughed at my note and I smiled at my feet embarrassed. I never sent it to him but I really wanted to. He looked up at me and laughed harder. My smile turned confused and I eventually joined in on the laughter

"You are such a dork!" The laughter slowed down

"Says you. You got me a promise ring!"

"You accepted it!"

I walked more toward him and sat on the island.

"I suppose I did."

He pulled me into a swift kiss before getting out of his chair and leaving to the bedroom. I cleaned up the dishes and stretched a little before he came back out in actual clothes. The time was 7:38 and we were throwing on our shoes. The subway to the theatre would be 20 minutes and then some because we had to walk. I threw on my shoes and grabbed my tote bag with everything in it. Mike grabbed his backpack and we were out the door. His arm went into his sweatpants pocket and mine held onto that arm.

We walked quickly to the nearest metro station and swiped our metro cards. We waited for about 2 minutes before our train arrived and we got on. I saw an empty seat and walked to it. There wasn't one for Mike but he assured me he would be okay. I sat down and he held onto the bar facing me and looking out the window. I pulled out my book and began to read it. At the next stop the person next to me got off and Mike took a seat there. I rested my head on his shoulder and fell into a light sleep.

I felt Mike take the book from my hands and put it in my bag. His arm went around my waist and I sighed a sigh of content. What felt like a second later Mike was lightly shaking me awake as we pulled into the station. I yawned lightly as I grabbed my bag and stood up. Once the train fell into a stop, Mike pulled me through the crowd and out of the doors. We walked up the steps and into the semi-busy streets of New York. Our walk would only be a few minutes and the time was currently 8:02. We walked quickly to the theatre and got there at just about 8:10.

We entered the theatre and walked for the dressing rooms. As we arrived at mine I opened the door and the Pink Ladies were there. Mike cupped my cheek and kissed me lightly before walking to his dressing room a few doors down.I turned around with a giddy smile and the girls looked at me expectantly.

"Hello Joss. How was your morning?" Portia asked laughing a tad

"Wonderful. You?"

"Just ordinary. What happened last night. You seem different?" She continued putting on blush

I showed my hand with the ring on it to them and they all screamed. Out of excitement I hope. Dani grabbed my hand and looked at the ring more closely.

"You're getting married!" She said

"What? No! It's a promise ring." I gushed

They all looked less excited. But still happy for me.

"A promise to what?" Ella asked

"I don't know. I guess to always be there for each other and to love each other unconditionally?"

"I think it's sweet." Portia says making eye contact with me in the mirror

I smiled at her as I sat in my chair taking my out my ponytail and exchanging it for two French braids into a bun. My light mascara and blush turned into flashy 50s makeup. Bright reddish-purple and a dark smokey eye. To finish the look some pink blush.
