A small, petite boy was asleep at a desk in a small cottage on the outskirts of a small village. He was barely 4'11 and his skin was a honey tan. His long hair was about mid-back, and was normally a pure, midnight blue. Now though, it held strands of stark white. His eyes, when open, were a gorgeous amethyst.

Not many would think that this small boy had, only a few months prior, fought the most recent threat to all magical people, a goblin by the name Ranrok. None of the people who saw the boy would think he capable of a rare talent and gift- seeing and harnessing ancient magic. No one, if they did not know him, would even believe the boy to be barely 16, and about to start his 6th year at Hogwarts in just a couple days' time.

Strewn around him on the desk were letters from the friends he had made during his first year in the magical world. As a fifth year at Hogwarts. Among the senders was a witch from Hufflepuff named Poppy Sweeting. Aquila and Poppy had become friends due to their mutual love of magical creatures. Together the two of them had not only thwarted poachers by disbanding an illegal dragon fighting ring, but they had also rediscovered Snidgets thanks to the clues from Poppy's grams notes and the help of a centaur named Dorran.

Another set of letters came from his Gryffindor friend Natsai Onai, who hailed from Matabeleland, where she had attended Uagadou. Together, they had put an end to Theophilus Harlow, who was behind a great deal of misery for those around Hogsmeade and the Hogwarts area in general. Natty, as she was affectionately called by both Aquila and Natty's mother, had even saved him from a Crucio at the man's wand.

Amit Thakkar, Aquila's closest Ravenclaw friend- and the only one in his year. They had bonded over Astronomy and had even infiltrated a goblin mine which allowed him to learn more about Ranrok's plans for magicals. They also discovered astronomy tables throughout the Hogwarts area to study the stars even more.

Then there were Aquila's fellow Slytherins: Sebastian Sallow- and by extension his twin sister, Anne- and Ominis Gaunt. All fellow fifth- now sixth- years just like his other friends. Their adventures together had been a bit more... Intense. It involved a lot of dark magic and family secrets and arguments. It almost reached familicide. Sebastian had almost cast the killing curse on his uncle in a fit of dark magic induced anger and irrationality. In the last letter he had received from the Sallow sister, Sebastian and Solomon were finally reaching a more stable ground with each other. After Solomon properly explained about dark magic, it's effect on one's mind, personality, soul, and emotions. Sebastian had already been horrified by what he had almost done, but a proper conversation with his uncle really hit it home for him what Ominis had meant when he said, 'Dark magic seems harmless enough, until it's too late'.

In addition, Sebastian had helped Aquila find triptychs left by Isidora Morganoch. Even if they had had an argument about goblins that almost broke their own friendship. But they had eventually pulled through and things were much more peaceful. As for Ominis, he had actually had a peaceful summer. Apparently, his family were too busy to pay him any attention and he had escaped to his late aunt's cottage that she had left to him in her will. All the Slytherins were happy to hear that their friend would be able to escape the more twisted of his family's hands.

Then there were his letters from non-student friends. There were a couple letters from Sirona, the proprietor of the Three Broomsticks. There was their mutual friend Lodgok, a goblin who had almost died at his own brother's hands and helped give him the clues to the final repository that Ranrok was after. The other group of letters were from his mentor, Eleazar Fig. Prof. Fig was the magical theory teacher at Hogwarts, and he had been the one to train Aquila in the basics after finding out he was magical. He was also the one to help Aquila handle the trials and was the other involved in the Secret of the Keepers. During that final battle under Hogwarts to protect the final repository from Ranrok, Prof. Fig had almost died. He had many severe wounds, but he had, eventually, around the last two weeks before Hogwarts healed up. Mostly. He wouldn't be going off and fighting the scattered loyalists and poachers that were around, but he would be able to teach when the new school year started. Lodgok and Fig had even met up to discuss Miriam, Fig's late wife who had also been friends with Lodgok. Both their letters and Sirona's mentioned their nights drinking in the Three Broomsticks and reading them had made Aquila's day. He couldn't wait to go back to Hogwarts.
