"CASSIDY!" I shoot straight up from a sound sleep at my name being yelled through the house. I toss an oversized hoodie on and sprint downstairs to see my parents running around like madmen. I clear my throat, making Mom look at me.
"What's up?"
"I need you and your sister to try on the dresses in the study after school today for the event tonight." I nod and walk into the study grabbing the six dresses, three for me, three for her. I walk up to my room and drop the dresses off before walking across the hall and knocking on my twin sister's door.
As soon as I knock I hear giggling and shuffling coming from inside and I roll my eyes, "Don't bother, it's only me." The door cracks open and I see my sister and her boyfriend. He shuffles around some more and puts his shirt back on. "Mom wants us to try these on after school today for the event tonight." I handed her the dresses and gave her a small smile.
Our parents are a part of some country club or whatever, every year each family puts together an event to keep their status up. This year it's our turn apparently and my parents decided on a masquerade ball.
I walk back to my room and throw on a pair of leggings and a loose crop top, I run a brush through my hair and throw it into a low ponytail before brushing my teeth and grabbing my bag. "I'm heading to school," I call to my parents as I make my way to the front door.
"Make sure you're home by four-thirty!" Mom calls back.
"I will. Love you."
"Love you too sweetie." I grab the keys to my '96 Road Star and smile as I make my way out to the bike sitting in the driveway.
I pull out of the driveway and drive to school with the wind blowing against my skin. I was going at a decent speed but not fast enough to be hurt by the wind or anything. I pull into the parking lot and smile as Chloe pulls up next to me.
I take my helmet off and make eye contact with some girls from my volleyball team. I've never been close with any of the girls from the team but I don't mind that. I have Chloe and to me, that is all that matters. My sister gets out of her car and links her arm with mine. Chloe and I are super close even though we are different. She is my best friend and I couldn't ask for a better one.
We walk over to our lockers and talk, we don't have any classes together so we hang out at school whenever we can. We grab everything we need and wait as we see Mason and his best friend Andrew walk over to us.
Mason gave Chloe a kiss and her cheeks lit up like a Christmas tree. I smile at her and roll my eyes at Andrew who stands right in front of me. I start to move away from the wall of lockers and run my shoulder into Andrew's. I roll my eyes and spit a sarcastic sorry his way. He just sighs as I walk away.

I walk out of the last class of the day and walk over to the locker room. I look around and see the girls standing in their regular clothes. My guess is Coach Maggie said we can skip practice today. The other girls and I walk out of the locker room and see Coach Maggie standing by the wall in the main gym.
"We don't have a game this weekend so I am letting y'all skip tonight's practice. But to make up for it, practice Monday morning." Everyone groans a little, "I'll bring donuts." then they all cheer. I chuckle and look at my phone. It's only 3:30, I have an hour and I don't want to go home just yet.
I put my bag down on the bleachers and get a confused look from Coach Maggie, "My mom said I don't have to be home until four-thirty, and I don't want to go home just yet." she chuckles and puts her clipboard down.
"Want to play one on one?" I smile and nod as we start to play a game. I serve it to her and she hits it back. Coach Maggie is one of the best coaches this school has ever seen. She loves what she does and makes the rest of us love what we do.
