"Mom?" "Who is this?" "It's your daughter...Alana." "What do you want Alana? I'm at work and I told you not to bother me and your father while we work." "You guys always work your never home! Calm Lana okay mom look, I know you hate when we call but I wouldn't have called if it didn't mean a lot to me and  it's important okay? Rider and Anastasia are really upset about their friends moving and I know it's kinda stupid but I was hoping you would get us a little place to stay in Hawkins."

"Hawkins?" "Yes mom that's where their friends are moving and that's where I want us to move." "No you guys can't move to Hawkins Indiana." "What why?" "Alana, the answer is no." "Why not though." "Look Alana some bad things happened in Hawkins which is why your father and I moved to California, it was to protect you guys. It's not safe in Hawkins especially for you." "Please mom, I won't ever call again we can go back to you just sending us money every month and us never talking again." After what felt like forever Mrs. Mendoza finally answered. "Fine, I'll find a house and get it, I'll have my assistant call you when I get an address but don't call me or your father again Anastasia do you hear me." Before Alana could correct her she hung up.

"Who was that." Her brother Rider says as he walks into the kitchen with his best friend Billy behind him. "It was mom." "What the fuck, what did she want?" "Just had to asked her a question is all." "And she answered?" "Yes Rider she answered. Where's Stas?"  "She's with Max at the skate park." Billy answered. "Oh by the way I would start packing." "What why?" "Cuz we're moving." Is all Alana said before she walked out the kitchen and into her room.

Alana was the oldest of her siblings, she was seventeen, while her brother Rider was sixteen, and her sister Anastasia had just turned thirteen. Alana looked out for her siblings because her parents weren't really in the picture, the thing is they didn't want kids, yet some how they ended up with three. When Alana was born she was born in Hawkins Indiana but after something happened they moved to California right next to the Hargroves, and then when Alana and Billy were ten, Rider was nine,  Mrs. Hargrove left and never came back. Everyone knew why, it was because Mr. Hargrove would beet her and Billy from time to time.  About two years later Mr and Mrs. Mendoza said they had a work trip out of state that they both needed to attend to, that was the last time any of the Mendoza siblings seen their parents.

Alana was only twelve when she realized she had to take care of her siblings because her mom and dad weren't coming back. Alana had to take care of Rider an eleven year old and Anastasia an eight year old while she was only twelve. Once Rider got old enough he also started to help but Alana would always make him do the littler thing like clean the living room and his room, do his homework because he seemed to not really care for it, but Alana would always make him do it, she wanted him to have a better life then she would. Alanas grades started to slip when she got to high school, she never had time to study or to do her homework or her projects, she was always to busy helping Anastasia with her homework, and if she wasn't doing that she was cooking or just picking up. Sometimes when it would get really bad at the Hargrove house Billy would go over to the Mendoza house and stay there for a couple days. Meaning it was just another person to take care of.

Alana didn't mind though, she liked Billy he was always nice to her, but she would hear things about him at school, and she would see things he would do to some of the kids, Billy would usually target the more darker kids, which Alana didn't like she thought everyone deserved to be treated equally no matter you skin tone. Alana was a nice person but she would do anything to protect her siblings, as well as Max and Billy. Max and her mom Susan had been apart of the Hargrove family now for about a year. Billy wasn't to happy about it especially two months ago after he found out that Susan wanted to move. Billy had went over to the Mendoza house upset, Alana was the only one home at the time, Rider had taken Max and Anastasia out to get food, Billy had told Alana what happened and he had told her how he felt, he also told her how he felt about her.

Billy had always thought Alana was a beautiful girl, she was honestly the only girl he would ever respect, he would do anything for her, including dying for her. Alan had also had some small feelings for Billy but because of how he would act around others and how he would treat other people those feelings tended to die down. She wouldn't lie though he was very attractive. So she very nicely shot him down, telling him it didn't feel right and she didn't want anything to happen in case something went wrong, and then Rider and Billy would no longer be friends. Billy respected it which took her by surprise but she was grateful he did.

A week ago while they were on their way to school Billy had told them how Susan said she found a place in Hawkins Indiana and how they would be moving in a week. Later that day Billy, max, Rider and Anastasia had went to get food. They had asked Alana if she wanted to go but she decided saying she had to get home and try and get some homework done, when they dropped her off, she went to the house phone and called her mom. Which is how they ended up here now in front of their new house in Hawkins Indiana four days before Halloween.
