Today was my best friend and girlfriends birthday and birthday party so I woke up early to pick up somethings. First, I ran into her favorite floral shop to pick her up some flowers. I was looking around when a woman walked up to me with a smile.

"Howdy! How can I help you?" She had a southern accent and her name tear read 'Mazie'

"Can I get a floral arrangement with pink and orange flowers. Preferably roses." I replied back

"Sure thing! What time would you like to pick it up?"

"Two, three hours?"

"Sure thing, last name for the order?" She walked me over to the counter

"Faist. Mike Faist."

"And would you like a note to go with your arrangement?"

"Yeah could it say I love you happy birthday?"

"Of course! Have a good day Mr. Faist!"

"You too."

I walked out of there and took the nearest subway to an animal shelter a little ways out of the city. I entered the shelter and walked up to the counter. A lady walked up and her name tag read Felicity.

"Welcome in! How can I help you?"

"Hey, it's my girlfriends birthday and I want to get her a cat. I think she wants the one with the spots?"

The lady led me to their cat area and laughed lightly at the end of my sentence. We entered a room with a bunch of cats and kittens of all shapes and colors.

"She must want a calico. Now, we're you guys thinking an older cat or a younger one."

"She wants a younger one. A kitten, I think?"

"Over here we have these kittens who are just over a month old. We have some calicos so you can take a look around, get to know them, and call for me when you're ready!"

I thanked Felicity and sat on the floor with all the kittens. One walked up to me and it looked like all the pictures Joss was showing me. It seemed much more friendly than the others. I sent a picture of the kitten to Ben, who was one of Joss's closest friends, and asked him if she would like it. He replied immediately with a strong yes and I decided this was the one.

"Ma'am?"

"Have you found your kitty?" She asked me as I stood up

"Yeah. I think so. But, would it be okay if we came and picked her up tomorrow. We're having this party tonight and we feel it would be better this way." I explained

"Of course! We'll see you tomorrow then!"

I thanked Felicity and left the shelter. I caught a cab back into the city and to a party supplies store. I bought some balloons and other things she would like. I called up Ben and asked him if he would help me and bring his car too. He said he would be here in a few minutes and I waited outside the store after paying.

"Mike! Hey man!" Ben called from his car

"Ben! Mind if I put this in the back?"

"Not at all."

I put the balloons and supplies in the backseat of his car and sat in the front.

"Where to?"

"That one jewelry store she really likes."

We talked the whole way there about Newsies and Grease and everything else. Once we arrived he parallel parked his car and we got out. We entered the jewelry store and I headed toward the necklaces. I knew she liked pearls so o wanted to get her something along those lines.

"Hello Sirs! How may I help you today?" A man in a suit asked us

"Yeah hi, it's my girlfriends birthday and I want to get her a necklace. She really likes pearls? If that's any help."

"I think I have just the thing."

The man entered the back and came back a few seconds later. He came back with a pearl necklace with a heart charm int he middle. It was perfect. I turned to Ben and whispered those words and he nodded agreeing with me.

"How much?"

"600."

Woah. If it's for Joss, it's worth it.

"I'll take it."

"Wonderful."

He walked over to the register and I followed but Ben grabbed my wrist.

"Dude, that's 600 dollars!"

"I know. But it's for Jocelyn."

"You're wipped."

I laughed and walked to the register. I gave the man my card and he swiped it. Approved. I felt relief. He packed the necklace up and we were on our marry way. I checked my watch and saw it was 7:23. Lynny ususally woke up around 8:30. That gave me and Tommy time to set up and I was gonna make her breakfast. French toast, her favorite. But first I had to stop at the floral shop. I told Tommy where to go and I quickly ran inside, paid, got my flowers, and ran out.

"Alright, that should be all. Back to the apartment please, driver." I joked

About 10 minutes later I was thanking Ben and entering the complex. I went up the elevator and rushed into the apartment. I set my stuff down and went straight into Tommy's room. I shook him awake,

"Wake up. We gotta set up for Joss."

"Alright, Alright. I'm coming."

We walked into the main area of the apartment and began setting up decorations. As I continued, Tommy made french toast because I am a terrible cook. About 20 minutes later the toast was plated and set up on the island, the necklace was hidden in the drawer, the flowers were set up just around the corner, and Joss was waking up and coming out of the room.

Tommy went back to his room, to get more sleep I'm assuming. I smiled at my girl and we walked over to the island.

"Good morning, sleeping beauty!" I leaned onto the counter

"Hey. Is this for me?" She asked me smiling slightly

"Of course. Happy Birthday, honey."

"Thank you, Mikey."

She sat down and took one bite of her toast before looking up at me.

"Tommy made this."

"Yeah. Yeah he did."

She laughed and continued eating. We talked for a bit before she finished. I took her plate to the sink and put it in the dishwasher. I reached into the drawer and took out the necklace box. She looked back up from laughing and her smile fell.

"Mikey..."

"No. Before you say anything, I love you and you deserve this and more!"

"You're too sweet."

I opened the box and she gasped. She looked up at me before looking back down at the necklace.

"Do you like it?" I asked nervously

"Do I like it? I love it, Mike!" She stood up and walked toward me

I turned her around and clasped the necklace around her neck, watching it fall. She turned around and her arms went around my neck. Mine, her waist. She pulled me into a passionate and caring kiss before pulling away and sitting on the counter. I suddenly remembered the flowers.

"Oh! One more thing!"

"You have got to stop!"

I brought our the flowers and she smiled. She told me she loved them and whatnot. We went to the couch and cuddles while watching some show, just waiting for the real fun to happen tonight.
