The sun was hot on your bare back, your forehead drenched with sweat. You were wearing a tank top and shorts, your shoes had at least a pound of sand in them, and you couldn't get the salty sandy flavor out of your mouth.

"How... much farther?" you asked Cyno, dragging your feet, exhausted out of your mind.

"Not that much farther, maybe a couple miles?" he answered, raking his white hair out of his eyes.

"A COUPLE MILES?" You groaned loudly, wiping your sticky forehead with your equally damp hand.

"It's not that bad," Cyno said, giving you a humorous expression. "I do this almost every day." He smirked at you as you struggled to keep up with him. You flipped him off, you could hardly feel your legs beneath you as you sped up to catch up with him. "What did one sand dune say to the other sand dune?"

You groaned.

"I will never desert you."

"I'm going to bury your dead body under a sand dune if you don't shut up," you snapped. He sighed dramatically.

"No one appreciates my jokes," he said sadly, shaking his head.

You kept walking for what seemed like hours, when you finally saw a landform other than flat desert. It was a collection of mesas, and there were caves in them.

"Thank the archons!" you sighed in relief as you felt the coolness of the caves, no more blaring sun beating down on your sensitive skin. Cyno chuckled behind you.

You two kept walking through the maze of tunnels. Little critters scurried about the ground. You ran your fingers across the cool, earthy walls, breathing in the musty air.

The dark tunnel finally opened out light, and you shielded your eyes as they slowly adjusted to the sudden brightness. In front of you stood a beautiful village, built into the cliffside. You stared at it for quite some time, your mouth hanging ajar when Cyno finally prodded you in the side. "C'mon we're going to be late if you keep standing here, ogling the place from afar," he said, smirking.

You followed him as he started walking towards the place, you struggled to catch up with his powerful strides. The sun shone brightly overhead, your whole body becoming drenched in sweat again. You started panting, Cyno glanced over his shoulder at you and raised an eyebrow but refrained from any of his snarky remarks.

"Candace! Long time no see!" Cyno headed over to a tall woman standing at the entrance of Aaru village. She was...there was no other way to put it, she was drop-dead gorgeous. She seemed as though she was glowing, her perfect dark skin, and silky purple hair. "This is y/n, she wanted to join me on my trip here," Cyno explained, gesturing at you. Candace turned slowly to look at you. When her gaze met your own, your face became hot, and not from the sun beating down in the clear blue sky. You quickly averted your eyes to your shoes. Cyno stared at you, what's her problem?

"Well, what made you decide to visit me?" Candace enquired. Holy shit, her voice...Her voice had a silky smooth honey feel to it, it was weird, but you thought you felt butterflies trying to escape from the depths of your stomach.

"I actually need to pick up some ingredients for medicine for my friend Collei," Cyno said. "I thought maybe you'd be able to help, it's this certain plant that I heard only grows here..."

"Oh yes, I know what plant you are talking about, shall we collect it right now?"

"We don't have to go right now, my friend here is very exhausted from our travels," Cyno turned to you. You felt Candace's eyes on you, causing you to go even hotter.
