The heels of my boots clacked with the hard stone floor as I tried to keep up with Alan's long strides. We exited the hallway to the throne room and now we are on our way to the ancient doors through which we entered this realm.
Can't he just slow down a bit? I'm running out of breath here!
Activating his Moon powers, Alan quickly directed them towards the sigil of the ancient door, making it glow a dark blue hue once again. As soon as the door opened, both Micah and I followed Alan out of the Witch's realm and into the tulip field. The moon slowly revealed itself through the veil of clouds, its soft glow illuminating the now closed petals of the flowers. The dancing fireflies contributed an ethereal glow to the whole scenario.
Deciding not to get lost in my surroundings, I quickly increased my pace until my footsteps matched that of Alan's. At this point, I'm practically jogging alongside him.
"Are you going to spill the beans now? What did you find?!" I asked.
"We need to get to the secret library." Alan replied, his gaze fixed at his car in the distance.
"Secret library? You mean the one in your office?"
"Yes. And I'll need you to activate the Spellbook there." He commanded.
Our pace slowly decreased as we reached near the car. Alan's words turned on the gears of my head.
The Spellbook? Why would he need that so suddenly?!
Doubt and uneasiness filled my body. Something urgent is going on in Alan's head and I'm not even sure if I'll be able to help him or not. He got in the driver's seat, commanding Micah to sit in the backseat of the car. As soon as I buckled up my seatbelt, Alan stepped on the gas and we sped off towards the mountains; on our way home.
Pulling onto the driveway of the mansion, Alan quickly switched off the ignition and got out of the car. He is in such a rush, as if the Earth will be crumbling down any minute now. I quickly took off my seatbelt and followed him inside. He hurriedly ascended the stairs, taking two at a time. His pace didn't decrease a bit until he reached his office.
By the time I entered those double doors of his office, Alan has already entered the security code in the book panel and the huge book shelf is parting to reveal the mystical library behind it. As the shelves fully parted, Micah joined us and together we entered the library.
My nervousness started increasing with every step I took towards the ancient Spellbook. I tried my best not to let negative and intrusive thoughts blur my mind, but it was turning out to be difficult than I imagined.
What if I'm unable to read the spells this time too? What if I'm not strong enough yet? Worse, what if the book doesn't respond to me this time?!
The impulse to turn back and run away was huge but I'm not backing out of this now. Not if I want to know my true self and dampen this curse. The whole Blue Moon pack, including Alan, needs me and if this is my destiny than I have to be strong and face it. I'll never back off like a coward anymore!
Taking a deep breath, I cleared my mind. I took a few steps forward and there it was, The Spellbook. With shaky hands, I approached it.
'You can do it Kiara. I know you can.'
Alan's voice was repeating in my head, giving me the assurance I need. As soon as my fingertips touched the book, it started glowing and rose up from its position on the stand, just like it did before. I could hear a small click as the book snapped open to reveal the pages filled with the prophesy and other small details of the curse. The pages flipped themselves, revealing a picture of a half breed, which I assume, is me. Then the pages flipped again to reveal what seems like the Witch's Realm. Alongside the hand drawn picture was a spell of some kind.
Upon further inspection, I got a sudden feeling that although written in an ancient language, I can easily cast the spell. I knew it is reckless but something inside me is urging me to do it. Deciding to trust my intuition, I started reading the spell from the book, astonished at myself for how naturally its coming to me.
