- So Sara, the last race before the summer break is next weekend in France, do you want to join us? – asks my brother as we are having breakfast in the kitchen.
- Of course, I always wanted to go there, Paris is my dream city even though I have never seen it. – I answer enthusiastically.
- Well, I have bad news, the track is at the opposite side of the country so you have to wait on that a little more. – says John.
- Not necessarily, I mean I have a photo shoot there after the race, you could join me if you want. – chimes in Lewis.
- We can't, you know that I promised Toto to train the staff in Monaco from Monday. – says John.
- She could come with me and we will meet you in Monaco on Thursday. I can show her around Paris. – tries Lewis.
- I don't think that's a good idea, Lewis. – disagrees my brother. – I wouldn't feel comfortable with you taking her to the most romantic city now with everything that's going on.
- You can relax now, Sara and I talked and we agreed that it is best not to complicate things, and we decided to stay only friends. We wouldn't have a chance with all the travelling and the media would tear us to pieces because of the age difference. It wasn't a good idea what happened at the party. – lies Lewis to my brother.
We agreed on our date that it is best to keep John out of our relationship for now; we don't want to overcomplicate things and if this situation doesn't work out, we wouldn't have any responsibility to clean up the mess we made.
- Is this true? – my brother looks at me to confirm and I nod. – Would you be comfortable going with him for three days?
- Yes, I mean he is still my friend and I really want to see Paris in person. – I answer half-truthfully.
- I will get us separate rooms and we will go sightseeing together, I will keep her safe. – says Lewis.
- Okay, but you are coming back to Monaco on Thursday. – agrees my brother.
I can't believe he actually said yes or that I am going to see my dream city in person with the most handsome man that I have seen in my entire life. Of course, we have to be careful because Lewis is easily recognised everywhere. Ever since the British Grand Prix the rumours died down. Lewis made an announcement that we are only friends and that I am interning at the Mercedes which explains why we are spending so much time together. People seemed to accept it and now my brother is also out of the picture.
The week flies by quickly; I already packed my suitcase, well suitcases because we will spend 3 weeks away. We will go to the south of France for the race, Lewis and I will visit Paris and then we'll spend the rest of the time in Monaco.
- Are you ready to go? – comes John to my room.
- Yes, this will be amazing. Thank you for letting me come with you.
- Of course, sis. You are part of the family now. Although, I have to ask, are you really okay going to Paris with Lewis? I mean with everything that happened. I just want to make sure that he didn't hurt you...
- No, nothing like that. We talked it through and we both agreed that it is best to keep things friendly. It wouldn't have worked out anyways. – I say our fabricated story.
- Okay, I just wanted to ask. Let's go now, we have a plane to catch.
It was my first time flying but I loved it. We went with Lewis' privetjet and I was looking out the tiny windows all the way admiring the view andthe clouds. When we landed, we go to check into the hotel, we will have a busyweek. I go with the boys every day to the paddock and while they are doingtheir thing, I help out Toto with the emails and ad hoc jobs even though I amofficially off the clock. I get to wear the Mercedes outfit every day and Ifeel extremely grateful to be part of the best team. The qualifying goes great,we score first and second places with our drivers. The media accepted thatthere is nothing going on between Lewis and me; I think me running around inthe paddock wearing my Mercedes shirt helped with that. They accepted that I amonly a regular employee. The race doesn't really go as expected, in the 10thlap Valtteri has a bad crash with Max as the young Dutch is trying to overtakehim. My eyes go wide as our second driver hits the wall at a high speed.Luckily, we can hear him on the radio saying that he is okay. Lewis asks aboutwhat happened as he sees the yellow flag and the safety car. His race engineertells him about the accident and ensures him that his teammate is fine. Afterthey clean the track, the race resumes, however I am very nervous because now Isaw in person what a horrible crash looks like. I am praying that this willnever happen to Lewis; I don't think I could survive that. Relief washes overme as Lewis crosses the finish line first at the end of the race. We go to thepodium to celebrate his win as a team. When he gets out of the car, I can seehim looking around and his eyes meet mine. He smiles at me and I smile back. Wecannot show our feeling because of others but I am so proud of him and I thinkhe understands that from the way I am looking at him. I cannot wait for us toleave tomorrow for Paris and be able to spend a little time together away fromeveryone. We really need this because we weren't able to be alone in the pastweeks. City of romance, here we come.
