Recently, I've been noticing strange things about the general. He has been inviting this one particular person over more than anyone else. I'm not sure if he realizes it yet but I think the general really likes the trailblazer Caelus. He invites him over to tea. Even to play chess despite how insanely bad he is at the game. He even taught the general to play a couple of games that he was good at. The general was not very good at the games Caelus suggested. I was a bit better than the general too.
"Yanqing! You won! I'm so proud of you!" He shouts and I'm like, he thinks he's my dad. Honestly, he probably is at this point. My own special interest in swords are probably what led me to witnessing the most important parts of this man's life.
"One, two...," Caelus takes his time drawing out the cards to all of us. There's me, Caelus, the general, and Miss Tingyun who just came in. I take a look at the box of the game we were playing. You could have a max of ten people playing this, wow. I thought to myself. My deck was handed to me and we begin to play. Each of us place colored cards down one by one. This is a very weird game. As I was playing along, Tingyun forgets to shout 'Uno' and sulks as she draws four cards from the pile. I notice I'm down to my last two along with the general and Caelus. In a round we sing,
"Uno!" Caelus ends up finishing first. Tingyun had the opportunity but she was quite disappointed with the loss.
"Well, that was fun boys, but I should probably head back to Miss Yukong. She'll worry if I'm gone too late. You'd fear her if she was angry," She takes her belongings and heads out of the Seat of Divine Foresight. The way Jing Yuan is looking at Caelus is quite strange. I'm getting a feeling that something is going on between those two. I'm not sure if I want to know more just yet. Likely, if my gut is right, I have a new dad. If my gut is wrong...I don't want to be alive to see the consequences. I excuse myself outside and I see two strange faces around Miss Sushang.
"Miss Sushang is amazing, Clara! She found us really quickly!" Said a blonde child, no older than ten. The next child looked slightly younger than I. You could easily make her into a princess with her long white hair and her innocent gaze. I approach Miss Sushang and the children to get more info.
"Afternoon, Miss Sushang! Boredom has gotten to you?" I ask sarcastically.
"Totally, I'm totally bored. This tiny child right here tried to get Bailu to join something called the Moles," She continues on, "The girl in the red coat was trying to convince the tiny one that Bailu was much older than her. On the basis she reminded her of someone named Natasha and the blonde called her a witch."
I'm beginning to have trouble holding back my laughter.
"I was actually going to take them to the General to give them a stern talking too," Sushang pulls off an angry puff, "They wouldn't let me talk to them until I won hide and seek as the seeker."
"You must've had a lot of fun. I know your shifts are uneventful." I try to diffuse her best I can but its no use. This is just some normal kids play.
"Let me spar with you, Sushang. If I win, you let the kids go. If you win, I will escort them to the general," Sushang was taken aback by my lack of formalities. The girl in the red coat excused herself and left to go greet a strange robot who had just arrived. Being guided by Tingyun she points to the general direction of where we were. His big metallic steps made me think he was quite old. He takes one look at Sushang and says,
"Your odds of winning this spar are not in your favor. You have a 2.5% chance of winning," The robot calmly said without missing a beat.
"Well, even if the odds aren't in my favor, two point five is bigger than one! That means I still gotta chance no matter how slim!" She continues, "I'll prove to you that I'm the variable here!" The robot is taken aback by Sushang's confidence. Like he's heard that phrase before. We head to an open space where the duel can commence. We held out our swords.
