"What?" Drue asked, pressing her lips together. "What do you mean he's missing?"

"He told me and Axel to meet him at his place but when we got there, he was gone."

"That doesn't mean he's missing."

"And he's not answering his phone either."

"Sven--"

"You don't understand. The boss wouldn't just turn off his phone and disappear without telling me or my brother."

"You sound like his wife or something." Drue started to laugh at her own joke until she realized the genuine concern in Sven's face. It was weird to see him out of his normal stoic nature. Maybe Virek really was missing? Sven didn't seem like the type to make up something like that. "Okay fine, I'll bite. Where's your brother?"

Without an invitation, Sven walked inside. "He's still at Virek's place. We were supposed to all meet up after he got Savannah Chase."

Drue shrugged. "Am I supposed to know who that is?"

"Evan Shaw's on and off Witch girlfriend."

Drue closed her front door and shrugged again.

He read her face and said, "Evan Shaw is a Guardian. Virek sent my brother to get Savannah so he could question her about Winsome."

"If she's a Witch, do you really think she's just gonna tell Virek what he wants to know?"

"Mr. d'Luca can be very persuasive."

"I'm sure," Drue said, rolling her eyes. "But wait, if Savannah Chase is Evan's girlfriend, why didn't Virek just ask him to question her?"

"He met with Evan shortly after he was attacked and needless to say, he wasn't very concerned about the threat that lay ahead."

"That literally makes no sense," Drue said, shaking her head. "Didn't Virek tell him that she tried to kill him? Shouldn't he be worried that she might try and kill him next?"

"Evan Shaw is a lot of things but 'worried' is not one of them," Sven replied. "He has too much of an ego for that."

Drue snorted as she walked past him and sat down cross-legged on the couch. "It must be a requirement for all Guardians, because--" she felt Sven's eyes on her and cleared her throat. "Anyway... if Virek is missing, do you think it's Mercenaries again? Or maybe the Dark Fae out for revenge for what happened at the Harp?"

Sven's phone chimed. "You may be right," he said, staring at his phone. "The doorman at Virek's building said that there was a young boy waiting outside of the building with a package."

Finally, something tangible but she still wasn't convinced. "And? What was in the package?" When he didn't answer, she sat up straight. "Sven?"

"We know where Mr. d'Luca is," he said, sliding his phone back into his pocket. "Come on, get dressed." He started to walk towards the door but stopped when he realized that Drue hadn't moved. "Do you need help finding pants or...?"

Drue looked down and gasped, remembering that she had been sitting there and talking to Sven in a black bralette and high waisted shorts. Grabbing the throw blanket from the back of the couch, she wrapped it around her shoulders. "I'm fine."

"But I said to get dressed."

"Yeah, I heard you."

"Then why aren't you moving? I wasn't asking."

"Oh, of course not," she said, narrowing her eyes. "No one ever asks me anything. Yet, I'm supposed to say 'how high?' whenever someone tells me to jump. Well, not anymore. Not today."
