Hermione opened the window to her room. Her parents had gone to a concert, and would likely be gone the whole night. So, Hermione was taking advantage of the fact that she would be alone, and could sing in peace.

Hermione connected her phone to her bluetooth speaker, and started to play the music in the background of the song, knowing she had the song memorized.

"You made plans and I, I made problems. We were sleeping back to back. We knew this thing wasn't built to last," Hermione sung.

Hermione continued. "Good on paper, picture perfect. Chased the high too far, too fast. Picket white fence, but we paint it black."

"Ooh, and I wished that you would hurt me harder than I hurt you. Ooh, and I wish you wouldn't wait for me, but you always do."

"I've been hoping somebody loves you in the ways I couldn't. Somebody's taking care of all of the mess I made. Someone you don't have to change."

Hermione sung louder, losing herself in the song, and forgetting reality. "I've been hoping someone will love you, let me go."

Hermione knew this song was a guy and girl duet. Unfortunately, Hermione had no friends who liked to sing as much as she did.

So, she would do what she always did when she sung a guy and girl duet. She would sing it herself.

Right as the guy's part came along, she opened her mouth, ready to sing, but stopped when she suddenly heard a male's voice singing it.

She turned around in her room, looking for the guy. Then it hit her. She had opened her window. She ran over to it to see a guy sitting on the grass right in front of her window, singing.

Hermione had never heard something to beautiful in her life. She'd never seen something so beautiful in her life.

"Spend some time, but this time ain't even. I can leave it in the past, but you're holding onto what you've never had." The boy sung.

He continued to the next verse, meeting Hermione's gaze. "Good on paper, picture perfect. Chased the high too far, too fast. Picket white fence, but we paint it black."

Hermione picked up on her part of the duet. "Ooh, and I wished that you would hurt me harder than I hurt you. Ooh, and I wish you wouldn't wait for me, but you always do."

The boy smiled, and they sung together. "I've been hoping somebody loves you in the ways I couldn't. Somebody's taking care of all of the mess I made. Someone you don't have to change."

The boy stopped singing, letting Hermione finish. "I've been hoping someone will love you, let me go."

They both stared at each other after Hermione finished.

"You have a beautiful voice." The boy said, breaking the silence.

"Thank you. So do you. I'm shocked you know that song."

"My friend plays that song on repeat," he said with a smile.

"What's your name?" Hermione asked.

"Draco. Yours?"

"I'm Hermione."

"That's a beautiful name."

"Here, I'll come down there. Give me a minute."

He smiled. "Okay."

Hermione turned away from the window, and quickly put on a layer of chapstick before running down the stairs and throwing the door open.

"You came out here quickly." Draco pointed out.

"It's not everyday you sing a duet with a guy sitting outside your window."

"Touché."

"So, how did you know I was singing?" Hermione asked.

"I was going for a run."

"This late?" Hermione asked, shocked.

"It's not that late." Draco shrugged.

"Uh, it's seven, and the sun is setting. It's late." Hermione stated.

Draco sighed. "My parents were fighting, so I went for a run."

"Oh." Hermione said. She didn't know what to say, really. "I'm sorry."

Draco shrugged again. "I'm just hoping they finalize a divorce soon."

"Well," Hermione thought this needed a subject change. "My parents are gone for the night, you don't seem to like your parents...how about we go to this cafe down the street? It's open all night."

Draco smiled and stood up, holding out his hand for Hermione. "That sounds great."

The two started to walk down the street, talking and laughing as if they were old friends who hadn't just met ten minutes ago.

Hermione opened the door for Draco. "After you, good sir."

Draco put a hand to his heart. "Oh, thank you, good ma'am."

Hermione laughed and walked into the cafe after him. Draco slid into a booth, and Hermione sat across from him.

The time flew, and before Hermione knew it, three hours had passed.

"Well, Hermione, as much as I'd like to stay, my parents are making me come home. I'm sorry."

Hermione smiled. "No, you're okay."

"Can I at least walk you home?"

Hermione stood up. "Yeah, I'd like that."

Draco walked Hermione up to her door. "I hope we can do this again."

"Meet at the cafe tomorrow for lunch?"

"That sounds perfect."

Hermione turned to open the door, but hesitated. She turned around and quickly kissed Draco's cheek before running into her house.

Draco was moonstruck. Her lips had just grazed his cheek, but Draco felt as if electricity and warmth ran through his veins. He sighed and turned around, running back to his home.
