Chapter 29: Roadtrip

Josh's POV

"Hey mom, how was your day?" I asked.

"It was good. Where's Sophie?" my mom asked.

"She's at Max's house." I said, fiddling with my bag.

"As in your friend Max?" my mom asked.

"Yeah. Why?"

"Oh nothing, just wondering."

"Uh, okay then. I'll be upstairs." I said, running up the stairs.

"Wait, pack your bags sweety!" my mom called after me.

I ran back down the stairs so I could hear what she said correctly.

"Pardon?" I said.

"I said, pack your bags because we're going away for the weekend." my mom exclaimed.

"Oh ok...is Sophie's family also coming?" I asked.

"Yes, we're all going in one car."

I smiled and went to go pack my bags.

Sophie's POV

"I had a lot of fun today Maxi, but my mom said I had to be back home early." I said, giving Max a kiss on the cheek.

No. We haven't kissed each other on the lips yet.

"Okay, I'll see you on Monday." Max said, pulling me into a hug.

"Bye!"

"Wait, Sophie?"

"Yeah?"

"I love you."

"I'm home!" I shouted from the kitchen.

"Hey pumpkin! Mom and Anne just went out to get some roadtrip snacks." my dad said.

"We're going on a roadtrip?" I asked excitedly.

"Yep, so get packin'!"

I love roadtrips. I love making myself comfortable in the car without having to get out every 2 seconds. I love eating snacks and watching my favourite shows. I love listening to music and drawing.

But the best thing out of all of those is, hearing your favourite song come on the radio and you just sing it together with your family.

I know I said I don't sing anymore, but roadtrips come with an exception.

I was just finishing up packing when I got a text from Josh.

Josh: Hey, you packing?

Me: Yeah, how do you know 🤨

Josh: I just finished...by the way we're
going on the roadtrip together...

Me: Oh! 😮

Josh: You didn't know???

Me: Nope 🤭

Josh: Wow😑

Me: Do you know where we're going?

Josh: Nope, it's a surprise

Me: We better be staying somewhere
where there's WI-FI

Josh: 😑anyway...the car we're going
with is a seven seater, do you
want to sit at the very back
together??

Me: Of course 😄 the back is the best
place to sit during a roadtrip

Josh: 😁see you later

One things for sure, this will be a very interesting roadtrip...
