Hold Onto Me 'Cause I'm A Little Unsteady

Vinnie's POV

  The solid sound of something being dropped onto the table had caught my attention, drawing me away from the magazine that I was reading. Sitting across from me sat my brother, looking distressed. I knew he was trying to make contact with Able and the two were playing phone tag for the last hour. "Still having a hard time getting ahold of her?" I finally asked. Rubbing his face with frustration before letting out a sigh.

  Darrell sat in silence for a moment till he readjusted his hat and looked over at me. Seeing him rolling his eyes had me crack up. "Yeah, fucking playing damn phone tag for a while now. Shit, I had sent flowers this morning to let her know that I was thinking about her. Was just hoping that I could reach her before she was to head to the airport. Guess I will just speak with her tomorrow morning when she flies in," my brother vented.

  I always did find his life to be comical at times. Relationships were hard, and I've watched those two for years. To see Able have my brother whipped in the way she did was funny to me. That woman had the poor man's balls in her coin purse. I guess the great Dimebag Darrell did have a weakness after all, and her name was Sabian Abbott. The very redheaded spitfire that had walked into our lives so long ago, leaving her mark among us all.

  "I am sure the two of you will talk before then, if not then like you said, there is always tomorrow morning when she gets in," reassuring my brother. I knew Able loved my baby brother. That was never something that I questioned. Originally both her, Rita and Grady were supposed to be here by now, but due to change in flights. They wouldn't be here till tomorrow morning. I knew my brother was just getting anxious because he was missing her.

  Darrell thought on what I said and nodded, "yeah, I am sure both her and Rita are just making sure they have everything ready to go while Grady is eternally groaning at the sight." We both began to laugh at the thought. Looking outside the window of the bus told me that we were close to tonight's show. We were performing at a small club called The Alrosa Villa here in Columbus, Ohio. After that it was straight to California from here.

  "Kind of excited to see the crowd tonight. Hopefully they like us here in Ohio," Pat sounded hopeful. "Yeah, would suck if no one showed," Bob agreed. We all sat around bullshitting as the bus pulled up to the venue. We had a bit of time to kill before we were expected to go on. So, we had the drinks flowing to loosen us up a bit, especially Darrell. I knew Able was a huge importance in my brother's life. Seeing as that he was never completely himself when she wasn't around. I know he will feel better once she is back tomorrow.

  Getting up, I tapped my brother's shoulder to let him know that it was time we went inside. Mayhem stood by as we greeted each other. The bastard was a crazy one for sure, but we love having him around. Looking around, I saw Lenny walk over. "Hey, Kat is inside waiting. We believe everything is set," giving me a manly pat on the shoulder as we turned to head inside.

  The place was so packed that right away we could hear the crowd getting worked up. They were ready for us. Noticing that Darrell wasn't right behind me, I grew worried at first till I spotted him off to the side with the phone up to his ear. I could see his mouthing moving, so I can only assume that he finally got ahold of Able after all. Choosing to leave him to his privacy, I walked over to Bobzilla and Kat, talking about tonight's show.

  Not much time passed when Darrell joined us, guitar already strapped. "Everything alright with the Mrs.?" I asked him. Darrell shrugged, glancing down at his guitar. "Nah, caught her voicemail again. So, I just left a message this time. I'll just talk to her when I see her tomorrow." I could tell my brother was in thought, something was on his mind.
